General Statement of Duties:
All clinical care provided by the Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will be within the scope of the duties assigned by the supervising OrthoIndy Physician, who is a Spine surgeon who provides patient care in our Northwest Indianapolis and Greenwood clinics and performs surgeries and procedures at our Northwest Indianapolis hospital as well as at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. The supervising Physician must be either physically be present or immediately available for consultation when services are provided by the Advanced Practice Provider, including care provided using protocols, guidelines, and/or standing order. When the supervising Physician is unavailable, they may designate another Physician who has agreed to temporarily be responsible for the supervision.
Essential Duties:<div>
<ul><li>Helps plan and implement care of doctor&rsquo;s patients, including entering orders into the patient record that are verbal orders or part of standing orders or protocols approved by the supervising physician. Provides direct patient treatment, including but not limited to: assists with simple wound care and repair, joint injection and aspiration, administration of local anesthetic and digital blocks, joint and fracture reduction, and application of braces, splints, and other DME and soft goods. Responsibilities also include surgical first assist in the operating room.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Orders radiologic and laboratory tests and studies as necessary to complete history and physical examinations.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assesses patients and assesses normal and abnormal findings obtained from history and physical examination as well as radiology and ancillary studies.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Plans and implements care of patients, including; EMR documentation, ordering additional studies, communicates with supervising Physician and additional staff, and prescribing appropriate medications.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Helps to counsel individuals and families about their health related issues. Communicates individualized teaching plans to patients based on their needs.</li></ul>

Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Perform nursing assessments per service line requirements, utilizing a high level of clinical competence.</li><li>
Evaluate physical condition and determine medical service needs.</li><li>
Record medical histories, complete screenings, and document vital signs; coordinate next steps based on results.</li><li>
Monitor client health status and coordinate care with treatment teams.</li><li>
Develop and implement individualized action plans based on physical and behavioral health needs.</li><li>
Provide disease prevention, risk reduction, and health education.</li><li>
Oversee infectious disease control and client hygiene practices.</li><li>
Arrange and monitor medical appointments and manage medical emergencies.</li><li>
Administer and oversee medication administration, ensuring compliance with State Regulatory standards.</li><li>
Educate clients and guardians on prescribed medications and treatment adherence.</li><li>
Administer therapeutic injections and draw labs as needed.</li><li>
Coordinate with pharmacies, families, and indigent drug programs for medication access.</li><li>
Monitor medication side effects and physician orders for treatment modifications.</li><li>
Assist physicians/advanced practice providers with exams and special procedures.</li><li>
Maintain accurate, timely documentation per company policies.</li><li>
Participate in team meetings, required trainings, and performance improvement efforts.</li><li>
Support long- and short-term organizational goals and other duties as assigned by leadership.</li></ul> 
Education and/or Experience Qualifications:<ul><li>
Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.</li><li>
Must be willing to obtain licensure in additional states as needed.</li><li>
Experience providing nursing services in behavioral health, primary care, or community settings preferred.</li></ul> 
Required License/Certification (one of the following):<ul><li>
Current RN license in Indiana (or ability to transfer/obtain).</li><li>
BCLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.</li></ul> 
Additional Qualifications:<ul><li>
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, and electronic).</li><li>
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in crisis situations.</li><li>
Proficiency with electronic health records and related technology.</li><li>
