Position Summary: 
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Data Associate.
 
 
The Research Data Associate position within the Department of Population Health will contribute to the implementation and support of an NIH-funded (R01DA055675) study, and other studies in the Section on Tobacco, Alcohol and Drug Use. The position is supervised by Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Omar El-Shahawy. The Research Data Associate will work with the research team on active research studies related to substance use disorders and harm reduction. Within Dr. El-Shahawy's lab (IDEAS lab), the Research Data Associate will work on his NIH/ NIDA funded R01 to test the effectiveness of e-cigarettes in smoking harm reduction among adult ( 21 years) combustible cigarette smokers in opioid use disorder methadone and buprenorphine treatment programs.

The Research Data Associate will be responsible for collaborating with the research team and working independently within the scientific framework of the PIs lab. The Research Data Associate will report to the PI and work closely with other staff and external partners to support day-to-day operations with project coordination responsibilities. The Research Data Associate will be assigned to work on different assignments and tasks between projects based on real-time needs of projects and will be assigned to interact primarily with study participants within the frame of the job responsibilities outlined below.

Job Responsibilities:

<li>Maintain a thorough knowledge of research studies and procedures</li>
<li>Conduct surveys and qualitative research interviews with study subjects. Assist with their analysis and interpretation, as well as help with the preparation of study findings.</li>

JOB TITLE: Postdoctoral Fellow in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Institute, Mount Sinai, NY 


POSITION SUMMARY: The lab of Dr. Romina Bevacqua, an early-career Principal Investigator in the Diabetes,Obesity and Metabolism Institute, is seeking a curious, motivated, Postdoctoral Fellow interested in performingtransformative research on human diabetes and pancreatic islet biology. The broader significance of the work in Bevacqua Lab is that diabetes affects over 400 million people worldwide and advancing our understanding of adult human islet functionality, will lead to development of novel approaches for the treatment of diabetic patients. Morespecifically, Bevacqua Lab is interested in studying: 1) the regulatory mechanisms driving human islet maturation: 2)the genetic basis for their dysregulation in disease: and, 3) the application of these findings towards &beta;-cellregeneration and replacement therapies. These approaches will include implementation of novel genetic approaches in vivo to reverse diabetes, and will open new possibilities for the treatment of patients with diabetes.

To address these topics, the lab uses cellular biology, including genetics on pseudoislet organoids derived from non-diving human islets, molecular biology, Next-gen sequencing (CUT&amp;RUN, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, Mi-seq), FACS of different islet cell populations, functional studies, islet transplantation approaches, and imaging.

Qualified candidates should be self-driven and independent, enthusiastic for team work, eager to work in afriendly environment, with a track record of success supported by first-author publications in related fields. The applicants should have a strong interest in basic and translational diabetes research.

The selected candidate for this full-time position will be expected to apply well-established protocols and develop novel ones to address basic or translational research questions in diverse areas of pancreatic islet cell biology,including diverse NGS technologies, CRISPR screenings and novel CRISPR -or similar- genetic approaches. This postdoctoral opportunity will enable training in development of cutting-edge experimental methods. Position Summary: 
A Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Sounak Sahu, DPhil at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Join us in exploring how the mammary gland develops and how breast cancer begins. In 
the Sahu Lab, we use stem cells, 3D organoid &ldquo;mini-organs,&rdquo; and powerful genetic tools to model how healthy tissues form&mdash;and how those processes go wrong in cancer. You will be part of a team pushing the boundaries of developmental biology and cancer research while learning advanced lab skills in a collaborative and supportive environment.

The Individual is expected to seek to build a portfolio of research accomplishments in preparation for acquiring a higher degree in biomedical research or medicine. 


Job Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>After a period of time working in the laboratory, the candidate will be expected to train graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in experimental design, technique and performance.</li>
<li>Generates hypotheses and designs and performs experiments to test them.</li>
<li>Executes multiple experiments simultaneously over time independently.</li>
<li>Records all experimental findings in a laboratory notebook, analyze and interpret experimental findings.</li>
<li>Based on results, independently suggests and tests modifications to protocols.</li>
<li>Prepares figures and diagrams for presentations and publications.</li>
<li>Communicates results and collaborates with other professionals in the lab.</li>
<li>Demonstrates a significant level of intellectual input into the design of the project.</li>
<li>Presents findings at lab meeting, responds to challenges, and participates in exchanges of ideas to advance the science.</li>
<li>Reads and understands relevant scientific literature.</li>
<li>Contributes to the preparation of articles on research outcomes and progress and to the submission of same for publication.</li>
<li>Participates in the editing and proofing of grant proposals, annual grant reports, and manuscripts for publication and recommends modifications to the Principal Investigator.</li></ul> 


Minimum Qualifications: 
College graduate with a B.S. or B.A. in Biomedical or Physical Sciences. A minimum commitment of two years is required and placement in position may not exceed three years.

Preferred Qualifications: 
Prior research experience in a laboratory setting.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

 As a Room Attendant, you would be responsible for cleaning guest rooms and responding to guest requests in the hotel&rsquo;s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
