I. Job Summary 
 
Safely operates a tractor-trailer or a straight truck with a pup trailer (or other vehicle requiring a Class A CDL) to perform assigned duties on designated routes. 
 
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
<ul><li>Operates vehicle in accordance with Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements as well as all local, state and federal requirements and Company expectations for the Fleet; maintains a clean and safe vehicle.</li><li>
Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle using standard eDVIR (electronic Driver Vehicle Inspection Report); notes all issues on eDVIR form for corrective review/repair.</li><li>
Immediately reports any unsafe situations or unscheduled service calls to Operations Manager and Dispatch before attempting service.</li><li>
Participates and cooperates in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required by Operations Manager.</li><li>
Works closely with Operations Managers and Dispatch to improve route efficiencies and identify problem or unsafe accounts.</li><li>
Performs all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager and Dispatch, assisting other company drivers as directed.</li><li>
Notifies Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.</li><li>
Notifies Operations Manager and Dispatch of issues as prescribed by Service Machine protocol, including blocked containers, services that cannot be completed, or problems that arise on the route.</li><li>
Communicates customer requests, issues, or service changes to Operations Manager and Dispatch.</li><li>
Completely dumps all containers and leaves the customer&rsquo;s location clean and free of debris.</li><li>
Positions containers on the customer&rsquo;s property in a manner that ensures containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.</li><li>
Follows route assignments throughout the day and completes all documentation when checking-in at the end of the route.</li></ul>

What you will do &ndash; Essential responsibilities<ul><li>
Safely load, secure, transport, and offload CarMax vehicles between stores, auctions, vendors, and logistics hubs using a company-assigned car hauler.</li><li>
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of vehicles to support inventory movement and customer satisfaction</li><li>
Operate equipment with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and cleanliness, maintaining a well-kept truck and trailer.</li><li>
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment in accordance with DOT and CarMax standards</li><li>
Maintain accurate and compliant DOT logs and documentation</li><li>
Represent CarMax professionally with vendors, store associates, and the general public</li></ul>

Qualifications and requirements<ul><li>
Valid state-issued commercial driver&rsquo;s license Class A (CDL) Required.</li><li>
2+ years Class A CDL Driving experience required. Military (Heavy/Medium Tactical Vehicle) driving experience will be considered.</li><li>
In lieu of having Class A CDL Driving experience, current CarMax Associates are eligible to apply when they have met the following criteria:<ul><li>
A valid state-issued Class A Commercial Driver&rsquo;s License (CDL)</li><li>
2+ years of Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) driving experience at CarMax &ndash; non-Class A CMV experience is acceptable</li><li>
No preventable safety incidents in the past 2 years (validated by the Safety &amp; Compliance Team)</li></ul></li><li>
Clean driving record with no serious violations in the past three years; candidates must meet CarMax&rsquo;s Driver Safety Evaluation criteria.</li><li>
Ability to meet DOT &amp; FMCSA qualification requirements.</li><li>
Lift heavy objects and winch transported vehicles during the loading process.</li><li>
Proficiency in operating a 10-speed transmission.</li><li>
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.</li><li>
Good communication skills.</li></ul>
