Job Description</b><p><br>
The Director of Communications is responsible for the development and execution of the communications strategy of the church as well as overseeing key communications disciplines including: Copywriting, Email, Digital, Testimonial Stories, Social Media, Printing, and Comm Project Management, reporting to the Communications Pastor. A full time position, the schedule is generally Monday-Friday for a total of 40] hours. Although the position is regularly Monday-Friday, ministry happens in the evenings and during the weekends. All Mariners staff are expected to work during Christmas Eve and Easter services, as well as participate in Rooted once/year. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).</p><p><b>
Key Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>
Communications planning to drive church engagement with key ministries and church initiatives to help move a growing number of people through our discipleship process while aligning with the annual roadmap calendar for the church.</li><li>
Manage the church functions of social media, copywriting, email, and project management.</li><li>
Develop a relationship with key leaders and act as an advocate for creative and clear communications.</li><li>
Connect with ministries on a personal face-to-face and regular basis to understand their ministries&rsquo; needs and wants.</li><li>
Maintain keen awareness of cultural trends affecting churches and make appropriate recommendations on communication tools, channels, and strategies.</li><li>
Provide oversight and direction for email, web, social, and print strategy and communication.</li><li>
Direct social media team to engage audiences across traditional and new media.</li><li>
Collaborate with ministries to efficiently develop creative options for different channels.</li><li>

Qualifications</b><br>

Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or equivalent experience</li><li>
7&ndash;10 years of experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, with a proven track record of developing and executing strategic communication plans.</li><li>
Proficiency in Google Workspace or similar tools; experience with content management systems (CMS), email marketing platforms, and social media management tools; familiarity with design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or Canva) and analytics platforms.</li><li>

The Editor / Motion Graphics Artist is responsible for bringing stories and messages to life across digital ministry content, reporting to the Executive Producer. This role primarily focuses on post-production, creating engaging edits and motion graphics across ministry stories, online teaching, worship sets, podcasts, social media, and other digital platforms. You will collaborate closely with producers, the creative director, videographers, and designers to turn captured footage and creative concepts into meaningful final videos. The <b>Content Architect</b> sits at the intersection of strategy, storytelling, operations, and performance. This role owns OluKai&rsquo;s content engine&mdash;defining how the brand shows up editorially across every channel, from social and E-commerce to owned retail, wholesale, and events.</p>

This is not just a content management role. The Content Architect brings editorial vision, builds scalable systems and standards, and drives content performance with a data-informed mindset. You will collaborate across the entire Marketing organization&mdash;working closely with the CMO, SVP Creative, Director of Marketing, creative leadership, social, E-commerce, and retail teams&mdash;to translate brand strategy into stories that move people and drive the business.</p><br>

<p><b>2. Content Planning &amp; Editorial Calendar</b></p>

<li>Own the editorial roadmap. Build and manage the master content calendar across all channels and business units.</li>
<li>Align content planning with go-to-market priorities&mdash;key product launches, drops, collaborations, retail openings, trade shows, and cultural moments.</li>
<li>Plan and coordinate multi-channel content distribution across social, web, email, owned retail, wholesale, and Amazon.</li>
<li>Partner with the Director of Marketing to identify the highest-priority content moments tied to key revenue drivers (e.g. BFCM, seasonal launches).</li>
<li>Ensure content planning accounts for both brand-building and commercial storytelling in equal measure.</li>

<li>Oversee content production workflows in partnership with the Creative leadership, video editors, copywriter, and project manager.</li>

<li>Build and maintain a content governance model including standards, approval processes, and version control.</li>

<p><b>4. Content Architecture &amp; Systems</b></p>

<li>Support OluKai&rsquo;s content taxonomy, metadata frameworks, and organizational structure within the DAM and CMS.</li>
<li>Build scalable content models that enable assets to be structured, tagged, and reused efficiently across channels&mdash;embracing a &lsquo;create once, publish anywhere&rsquo; approach.</li>
<li>Collaborate with E-commerce, IT, and wholesale account teams to ensure content integrates seamlessly across platforms and partner sites &amp; apps.</li>
<li>Evaluate and implement tools and technologies&mdash;including AI-assisted content workflows&mdash;that advance the brand&rsquo;s content capabilities at scale.</li>
<li>Develop content frameworks and localization guidelines that preserve brand voice for international markets and distributor partners.</li>

<p><b>5. Cross-Functional Collaboration</b></p>

<li>Support key account and wholesale partners by ensuring brand content tools, digital assets, and product content are compelling, current, and accessible.</li>

<li>Define and track content KPIs including traffic, engagement, time on page, CTR, and conversion across owned digital channels.</li>

<li>Deliver regular content performance reports and optimization roadmaps to marketing leadership.</li>
