Position Summary
The Senior Designer is responsible for leading the design development and execution of projects within the NY Interiors Studio. This individual may have a professional background in either Architecture or Interior Design; however, the role is embedded within an interiors studio and is focused on the planning, design, coordination, and delivery of interior environments.
Working under the direction of the Design Director and in close collaboration with the Studio Director, Project Manager, Technical / Delivery leadership, and project team, the Senior Designer translates client goals, project strategy, and design vision into thoughtful, compelling, and well-coordinated design solutions.

Project Design Leadership<ul><li>
Lead day-to-day design efforts on assigned projects, from concept development through design documentation and construction administration.</li><li>

Position Summary

In this role, you will oversee projects from concept to completion, managing design coordination, planning, and execution. Your expertise in leadership, communication, and problem-solving will be critical in guiding teams, consultants, and stakeholders to deliver outstanding architectural solutions that meet regulatory requirements, budget constraints, and client expectations.
You will represent HLW in a professional and ethical manner, championing excellence in design, project management, and client engagement.
Job Responsibilities
Project Planning &amp; Business Development<ul><li>
Support responses to RFPs, including developing project fees, schedules, and scope language in coordination with the Principal/Partner in Charge and Studio Director.</li><li>
Take a leadership role in client coordination, including contracts, billings, and client communications.</li><li>
Maintain and strengthen client relationships to foster repeat business and contribute to business development and marketing efforts.</li></ul>
Financial Management<ul><li>
Demonstrate a superior understanding of financial management and project profitability.</li><li>
Oversee project budgets and financial performance in coordination with the HLW Director of Finance and Studio Director.</li></ul>
Team Leadership &amp; Coordination<ul><li>
Manage project schedules, budgets, and work plans, ensuring cost control and timely completion.</li><li>
Lead internal and external project team meetings, fostering collaboration and efficiency.</li><li>
Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to align project goals and expectations.</li><li>
Ensure project quality control reviews are conducted in coordination with the Studio Technical Director.</li><li>
Guide and mentor junior architects and project team members to support professional growth.</li></ul>
Project Execution &amp; Oversight<ul><li>
Prepare and deliver presentations to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies in collaboration with the project team.</li><li>
Manage the day to day and long-term activities of the project including client and consultant coordination with our team through documented tracking of ongoing workflows and issues.</li><li>
Conduct site visits, inspections, and progress meetings to monitor project execution and address challenges.</li></ul> 
Role Qualifications
Education &amp; Certification:<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s or Master&rsquo;s degree in architecture or a related field.</li><li>
8-10 years of experience, including workplace interiors required.</li><li>
NCIDQ certification and LEED accreditation (preferred).</li></ul>
Technical Skills &amp; Knowledge:<ul><li>
Proficiency in architectural design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Suite. Proficiency in Project Management software including Deltek, Microsoft Project, OneNote, Excel, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and Newforma.</li><li>
Strong understanding of building codes, permitting, and construction processes.</li><li>
Thorough knowledge and experience with contractual and regulatory issues.</li><li>
Experience working with contractors, engineers, and other consultants.</li></ul>
Leadership &amp; Management:<ul><li>
Significant experience in a senior managerial role across a variety of project types and procurement methods.</li><li>
Proven ability to manage and mentor staff across multiple projects.</li><li>
Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.</li><li>
Ability to multitask, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines, track and follow-through on issues.</li></ul>
