Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, performs work of a pharmacy technician, in accordance with Article 137 of the Education Law, specifically Article137-A, which details the tasks permitted for a licensed pharmacy technician and an unlicensed pharmacy technician. Ensures patient safety, optimal utilization of resources, service delivery and compliance with NYC Health + Hospitals, health care setting, and all other relevant regulatory policies and standards of care to improve outcomes and patient experience.
Examples of Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Validates patient identity and screens prescriptions for completeness, formulary/restriction and payment status, prior to processing.
2. Receives written or electronically transmitted prescriptions, types prescription labels and affixes labels on containers.

4. Obtains drugs from stock and returns them to stock.

Monitor and document equipment performance according to policy e.g. refrigerator temperatures and primary engineering controls pressures. Perform monthly Cancer Center Pharmacy Inspection.
</li><li>Purchasing from vendor or wholesaler miscellaneous supplies and items needed for IV prep as well as maintaining par levels. Anticipates use in advance to adequately stock special order supplies. Manages inventory (including back-orders and stock-outs) to ensure adequate stock is available. Provide proactive communication to allow inventory management and product transitions when required. Assist as required with inventory recall notifications.
</li><li>Interprets Pyxis generated fill lists and loads in conjunction with dispensing technology to provide the appropriate medication, dosage, form, strength, size, and quantity and safety for distribution to designated Pyxis Med Stations locations.
