The Grant Writer plays a critical role in sustaining and growing IINE&rsquo;s life-changing work. This position is responsible for researching, developing, and submitting grant proposals that support core programs and emerging initiatives across resettlement, education, workforce development, and immigration legal services. Key responsibilities include grant prospecting, cross-departmental coordination, proposal development, and timely submission under tight funder deadlines, as well as contributing to reports and funder communications that demonstrate impact and accountability.
Reporting to the Grants Manager, the Grant Writer works closely with the Chief Advancement Officer &amp; Senior Vice President, Director of Program Design and Evaluation, Chief Program Officer, Managing Directors, and Program and Contract Managers. The Grant Writer serves as a trusted partner across the organization, helping to strengthen relationships with public agencies and philanthropic funders while ensuring that IINE&rsquo;s mission, values, and outcomes are communicated with clarity, credibility, and urgency.
Responsibilities

The Analyst and Medical Writer positions are ideal for recent graduates in the sciences, and those with experience in scientific research, who are seeking the opportunity to apply their knowledge to real-world projects. Analysts and Medical Writers work on projects involving the detailed analysis of data from clinical trials and the assimilation and creative presentation of this analysis in different formats including posters, slide sets, value dossiers, reports and peer-reviewed publications. These deliverables are used directly by our clients in communication with external stakeholders, which are instrumental to the successful uptake of novel therapies. The work is structured on a project-by-project basis and you will be working on three or four projects at any one time across a range of high-profile disease areas and products, presenting variety of work and the opportunity to develop a wide skill set.
You will work in project teams alongside experienced colleagues who will provide training on the technical aspects of the role as well as project management and effective client communication. Delivering project work requires close collaboration with clients, and following a successful induction period you will increasingly participate in teleconferences and face-to-face client meetings. The latter may present opportunities for travel within the US and internationally.
You will be based in our office in Boston, which was established in 2020. This presents opportunities to shape and drive our US company; an endeavor supported by the success of our existing operations in the UK and Asia. Medical affairs projects provide the scientific bridge between clinical development and commercial functions in pharmaceutical and device companies. Most activities have a strong patient and/or healthcare professional focus, and act to educate and inform clinical decision making and patient care, or to gather insights that inform a product&rsquo;s clinical development. You will work closely with our clients to present the &lsquo;science behind the product&rsquo; through a wide range of projects including medical education events, advisory boards and medical information materials. You will collaborate with and support expert advisors and event speakers, and the requirement for on-site support at certain events provides opportunities for international travel. Market Access &ndash; Analyst
Within the healthcare sector, the market access process is essential to ensuring that novel pharmaceuticals and medical devices are reimbursed and rapidly made available to patients who need them. Evidence Development &ndash; Analyst
The work of our Evidence Development team encompasses literature reviews and synthesis projects as well as real-world evidence projects.
Literature reviews and synthesis projects involve the identification of clinical, economic and real-world evidence to support the value of a pharmaceutical product or medical device. Our work includes rigorous systematic literature reviews that can be used to inform meta-analyses and network meta-analyses, as well as more creative and pragmatic evidence reviews to inform clients&rsquo; strategic decisions with regard to clinical development or market access. You will gain a thorough understanding of how to conduct various kinds of evidence review from searching to interpretation of results, ensuring that the reviews conform to industry guidelines where applicable. You will also be involved in transforming the methods and results of the reviews into engaging reports and slide sets.
Real-world evidence projects include the design, execution and subsequent reporting of prospective, retrospective or cross-sectional real-world studies. We develop protocols and statistical analysis plans (in collaboration with our Statisticians, Epidemiologists, clients and external experts), acquire and analyze data, and communicate the methodologies and results in both written and oral formats.

Essential requirements for the role include:

Under the supervision of the Director, The Miriam Fund (&ldquo;Director&rdquo;), the Manager, The Miriam Fund is primarily responsible for overseeing The Miriam Fund&rsquo;s annual grant-making process, as well as working with the Director and Co-chairs of The Miriam Fund (&ldquo;TMF&rdquo;) to organize programs, fundraising activities, and communications with membership and other volunteer engagement activities for TMF. This role will also provide limited support for the Director and maintain good administrative systems relating to the efficient management of TMF.

Essential Functions:
<ul><li>
Partners with the Director to manage the details of a very robust strategic grants process, including scheduling key activities including grant meetings and implementing their operational aspects , communicating with grant committee members on process steps and with potential and confirmed grantees, compiling data from LOI reviews, compiling grant packages, updating grant platforms, scheduling sites visits and working to implement the operations of the annual grant process.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Partners with the Director and lay leaders of TMF to engage TMF&rsquo;s 130 members in TMF&rsquo;s mission, and coordinates and updates membership renewal process.
</li></ul><ul><li>Partners with the Director and lay leaders of TMF to communicate the impact of the work to internal and external stakeholders.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Partners with the Director to support TMF grantees through quarterly convenings and other outreach efforts.
</li></ul><ul><li>Manages projects by establishing clear goals, timelines, and deliverables; tracks progress, communicates updates to stakeholders, and ensures successful and timely completion.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Maintains optimal social media presence and other marketing vehicles including updates to TMF website.
</li></ul><ul><li>Attends all meetings with TMF co-chairs and TMF executive committee members, helps to plan agendas and prepare board materials for review.
</li></ul><ul><li>Acts as a liaison to TMF members to handle many initial questions regarding grants process, programs, and other matters.
</li></ul><ul><li>Working with the TMF members and on grants process is high touch and requires relationship building skills and good judgment.
</li><li>Support the reconciliation of monthly donations with finance and the Director of TMF.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Performs administrative support for TMF, which may include assistance for events (e.g., registration, logistics), database maintenance, coordination of mailings, contributing to stewardship projects, writing and editing emails, letters, invitation copy and other communication materials.
</li><li>Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.</li></ul>

Organizational Relationships/Scope: Reports to the Director, TMF. Has no direct reports.
Working Conditions:
<ul><li> Hybrid Work Schedule: CJP staff follow a hybrid work model. On-site work is required on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while remote work is an option on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays with occasional in-person meetings on those days.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Physical Requirements: This role involves remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods, primarily working at a computer. Staff need to be able to carry a laptop and bag to and from the office.</li></ul>

Education:

Experience:

As a Senior Medical Communications Writer, you will be responsible for researching, writing, and editing publications based on Rhythm&rsquo;s R&amp;D and therapeutic areas, as well as managing freelance writers and vendors and contributing to overall publication strategy. This position will also provide writing support for associated materials to the Global Scientific Communications department. 
 
Responsibilities and Duties<ul><li>
Perform literature reviews and solicit input from medical, statistical, and operational resources as necessary to support data analysis and document content.</li><li>
Oversee vendor- and freelance writer-generated publications, ensuring deliverables are timely and of high quality for internal reviewers and external authors.</li><li>
Membership on Core Publication Team and help with overall publication strategy and planning.</li><li>
Assist with review of data to ensure cleanliness/appropriateness for analysis, hypothesis testing, QA of statistical output, and data compilation to support data summaries/presentations.</li><li>
Writing scientific publications (papers for peer-reviewed medical journals, abstracts, posters, and slide presentations).
</li><li>Other writing responsibilities include internal educational scientific slide kits, conference reports, and field medical training materials.</li></ul> 

Qualifications and Skills<ul><li>
BS/BA in scientific discipline preferred, advanced degree is a plus.</li><li>
6+ years of related experience, with at least 2 years in a pharmaceutical environment.</li><li>
Proven scientific writing skills (particularly experience with developing scientific peer-reviewed publications).</li><li>
Ability to interpret and summarize complex tabular and graphical data sets and design post-hoc analyses.</li><li>
Expert knowledge of document content preparation, including the use of style guides, medical dictionaries, and online medical writing resources.</li><li>

This role is based out of our corporate office in Boston, Massachusetts. Rhythm operates in a hybrid-work model. Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the Boston office in coordination with their department and business needs. This role may involve some travel. 
 
The expected salary range for this position is $135,000 - $215,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance. This role may be eligible for benefits and other compensation such as restricted stock units.
