<b>Position:</b> Case Manager/Benefits Specialist
<br><br>
The Case Manager/Benefits Specialist offers support to eligible formerly homeless clients living in Permanent Supportive Housing to promote well-being and stability. The Benefits Specialist is part of a specialized team working across four SRO sites in The Bronx and Brooklyn. The Benefits Specialist will be assigned a caseload of clients at one of those sites and will coordinate closely with case management, recreational and operations staff at the building to which they are assigned.

<b>Location:</b> New York, NY 10020
<br><br>
<b>Minimum Qualifications:</b><br>
<ul>
<li>Associate's degree or 60 college credits courses in Human Services field or High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of related experience helping low-income clients access and maintain benefits including Public Assistance, Disability and Veterans benefits.</li>
<li>The position also requires a demonstrated ability in verbal and written communication, including basic computer skills.</li>
</ul>
<b>Case Manager/Benefits Specialist Principal Responsibilities:</b><br>
1. Conduct benefits assessments and provide individualized education, assistance, referrals and advocacy to help clients obtain and retain any and all benefits to which they are entitled, including accompanying clients to appointments as needed.
<br>2. Work with clients and their medical and behavioral health providers to document disability to support SSI/SSD applications and appeals.
<br>3. Provide individualized money management and budgeting coaching and as needed connect clients to services to adult guardianship or representative payee services.
<br>4. Develop and deliver workshops on topics related to benefits, budgets and money management.
<br>5. Utilize best practice approaches and evidence-based interventions to maximize client outcomes.
<br>6. Maintain service documentation to include client progress notes, observations and interactions about clients and incident reporting when necessary.
<br>7. Participate in internal and external case conferencing activities.

<div><ul><li>Completing front desk duties including check-ins/outs, room scheduling, room moves, late checkouts, stay-overs and other requests from guests.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assist arriving and departing guests with their luggage to and from guest rooms.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Act as a point of reference for guests that require assistance or information and attend to their wishes and requirements. This includes their transportation needs.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Acquiring and sharing knowledge of the hotel as well as the surrounding areas, venues and attractions.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Completing group pre-registrations and blocking room reservations, as well as pre-registering VIPs.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Maintaining knowledge of current hotel rates, sales strategies, current special rates and types and locations of available rooms.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Balancing paperwork, cash drawer, deposits, reconciling credit cards and submitting batches.</li></ul>

<p></p><p><b>Your experience and qualifications:
</b></p><div><ul><li>Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year College or Technical School; or six months to one year related experience and/or training.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ability to effectively interact with all hotel guests and team members in a polite and positive manner.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ability to quickly assess situations and create effective resolutions to problems.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Possess a passion to provide excellent customer service.</li></ul>
