Position: Case Manager/Benefits Specialist
 
The Case Manager/Benefits Specialist offers support to eligible formerly homeless clients living in Permanent Supportive Housing to promote well-being and stability. The Benefits Specialist is part of a specialized team working across four SRO sites in The Bronx and Brooklyn. The Benefits Specialist will be assigned a caseload of clients at one of those sites and will coordinate closely with case management, recreational and operations staff at the building to which they are assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>Associate's degree or 60 college credits courses in Human Services field or High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of related experience helping low-income clients access and maintain benefits including Public Assistance, Disability and Veterans benefits.</li>
<li>The position also requires a demonstrated ability in verbal and written communication, including basic computer skills.</li>
</ul>
Case Manager/Benefits Specialist Principal Responsibilities: 
1. Conduct benefits assessments and provide individualized education, assistance, referrals and advocacy to help clients obtain and retain any and all benefits to which they are entitled, including accompanying clients to appointments as needed.
 2. Work with clients and their medical and behavioral health providers to document disability to support SSI/SSD applications and appeals.
 3. Provide individualized money management and budgeting coaching and as needed connect clients to services to adult guardianship or representative payee services.
 4. Develop and deliver workshops on topics related to benefits, budgets and money management.
 5. Utilize best practice approaches and evidence-based interventions to maximize client outcomes.

In addition to emergency and transitional housing, URI delivers a robust continuum of Justice Initiatives&mdash;including economic empowerment, legal education and advocacy, prevention and youth programming, and abusive partner intervention&mdash;designed to break cycles of violence, instability, and poverty. URI also develops permanent affordable and supportive housing, advancing long-term pathways to safety, healing, and stability for families and communities.

Innovative Urban Village, opening in Summer 2026, is Urban Resource Institute&rsquo;s first Supportive Housing program in partnership with Christian Cultural Center and is a comprehensive redevelopment project located in East New York, Brooklyn. Phase 1A includes 376 income-based rental residences, of which 94 units are dedicated to families who have experienced homelessness as a result of domestic violence and who qualify for Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) services. The program provides permanent supportive housing and trauma-informed, culturally competent services designed to promote long-term housing stability and independent living. As URI&rsquo;s first Supportive Housing program, Innovative Urban Village represents a foundational expansion of the agency&rsquo;s housing continuum, requiring the development of a comprehensive program model, policies, procedures, and service framework from inception through full implementation.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director, Clinical Services provides strategic clinical leadership and oversight for all behavioral health and trauma informed services within the Innovative Urban Village supportive housing program. The Director conducts clinical assessments, ensures appropriate interventions, and provides clinical supervision to Case Managers through case analysis, service planning, and structured supervision.

The Director, Clinical Services collaborates closely with Case Managers, Housing Specialists, the Economic Empowerment Specialist, Operations leadership, and external clinical partners to ensure services reflect best practices in supportive housing, domestic violence recovery, and family stabilization. This role ensures full alignment with ESSHI requirements, OTDA regulations, and URI&rsquo;s trauma informed, culturally responsive service philosophy.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Leadership &amp; Service Delivery

<li>Conduct clinical assessments and determine appropriate behavioral health interventions.</li>

 Acquire a thorough working knowledge of the products/therapies and procedure, develop an extensive understanding of all their applications

 Utilize acquired knowledge to educate physicians and staff to reach expert proficiency in the THV procedure to deliver positive patient outcomes

 <li>
 Attend implants, conduct device preparation and crimping of the THV system in each assigned case; consult with physicians to support them in reaching expert proficiency in the THV procedure to deliver positive patient outcomes; manage complaint handling process as needed
 </li>
 <li>
 Supports cases outside of assigned region, on an as needed basis.
 </li>
 <li>
 Partner with Territory Managers to develop the proper selection criteria for sites
 </li>
 <li>
 Partner with the proctor and sales organization to plan and implement physician and support staff trainings
 </li>
 <li>
 Collaborate with the Territory Manager on growing the THV therapy through therapy awareness programs
 </li>
 <li>
 Advise Cardiologists and Surgeons in the patient selection process
 </li>
 <li>
 The ability to travel up to 80%

 What you will need (Required):
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 An associate&rsquo;s or equivalent in Nursing or related field, plus five (5) years of experience of previous related medical device, THV/TAVR, Cath Lab, or clinical experience in an acute care environment or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria required.

 What else we look for (Preferred):

 Previous experience with education and training in a clinical setting
 </li>
 <li>
 Expert clinical skills specifically in cardiac surgery or interventional cardiology are strongly preferred; exceptional candidates with other relevant medical device clinical sales support experience will be considered including but not limited to CRM and Spine
 </li>
 <li>
 A Sales skill-set that includes drive and self-motivation, strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to plan, organize, close and deliver, and the capacity to work autonomously
 </li>
 <li>
 The ability to travel extensively (approx 70-80%) and the flexibility to easily change hats between technical and sales requirements
 </li>
 <li>
 Candidates medically trained to the technician or nurse level are highly preferred
 </li>
 <li>
 Exposure to Pediatric patients or procedures
 </li>
 <li>
 A successful track record closing technical medical sales also a plus
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence key decision makers
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent interpersonal skills, interfacing with multiple constituencies including cardiologists, support staff and sales in order to effectively build relationships with external customers and internal team members
 </li>

 For New York City, the base pay range for this position is $96,000 - $134,000 (highly experienced).
