This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment. The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as servers or routers (up to 40 pounds) and/or stooping, bending, very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis. We seek a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network Engineer to join our engineering client on a contract-to-hire basis. This IT Architect &ndash; Infrastructure position is crucial to helping the City of Houston to develop and maintain a robust, resilient, and secure network infrastructure.<br>

This position provides technical guidance to the Firewall &amp; Network Security Services team made up of operations and maintenance analysts, technicians, and/or engineers and requires expert level technical knowledge in performing analysis/troubleshooting of complex software, hardware, and transmission facilities. The position provides guidance and direction for planning and engineering efforts and test/evaluation programs to include the installation and on-going administration and support of the associated network security infrastructure (Firewall, Intrusion Prevention/Detection, Content Filtering, VPN). The Architect will maintain complete records of the devices and applications that they support to include drawings, written descriptions, and equipment configurations.<br>

IT Support Specialist

<p></p><div><p><b>Position Summary:</b></p><p>
Responsible for overall design, implementation, and maintenance of complex IT systems, including hardware and software. The design would include interfacing with the internet, firewalls, servers, network, storage, cloud, and the security that allows the infrastructure to function. This may include managing day-to-day operations within the Data Center Operations (DCO) team. This supports the academic, clinical, and research missions of UTHealth.</p><p></p><p><b><br>
Position Key Accountabilities:</b></p><p>
1. Plans, designs, and architects the infrastructure and platforms related to the DCO team, including project and strategic planning.<br>
2. Designs systems to meet specific needs of the customer and UTHealth.<br>
3. Responsible for ensuring that system development follows industry standards.<br>
4. Assists in evaluating, recommending, and supporting the server, storage, cloud and data center needs that are managed by UTHealth.<br>
5. Works closely within the DCO team, DCO management and other IT groups in reviewing, implementing and designing systems that align with the strategic goals of Information Technology (IT) and UTHealth.<br>
6. Troubleshoots complex problems within the DCO and IT environments.<br>
