 Job Description
 
 
 
 
 This position is based in the Philippines and will support the stand-up and operation of a contracted Role 2 Medical Treatment Facility located in Lal-Lo. The assignment is scheduled from April 18 through June 19, 2026, and will provide expeditionary medical support to U.S. military personnel and other authorized beneficiaries operating in the region.
 
 
 
 
 Please note that this is a temporary contract position and is not based in the United States. Candidates must be willing and able to travel internationally and work in an overseas operational environment for the duration of the contract.
 
 
 
 The Laboratory Technician evaluates specimens, performs routine and complex analytical testing, ensures assay quality control, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment, manages laboratory inventory, and keeps detailed records of all test results. In a remote, resource-limited, and high-stress setting, the role establishes, operates, and maintains reliable diagnostic capability with minimal supervision to support immediate clinical and public health decisions for authorized beneficiaries.

 Receive, label, prepare, sort, centrifuge, and distribute biological specimens and other substances for analysis.
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform routine and complex analytical tests using manual and automated methods in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and molecular biology.

 Evaluate specimens and ensure the quality control of assays to support accurate and reliable diagnostic results.

 Operate, maintain, calibrate, clean, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments.

Lab Tech II

<div>A Research Technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Hyunglok Chung within the Drosophila Core Facility. The successful candidate will conduct independent laboratory work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and interact daily with other scientists. The position will focus on the generation and maintenance of Drosophila melanogaster model organisms, phenotypic characterization, behavioral assays, tissue dissection and staining, and fulfilling research requests from Drosophila Core clients across multiple departments. A key component of this role is ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of fly models and related services to support ongoing research projects. 
Qualifications 
<ul><li>The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in a research laboratory setting, with a strong interest and hands-on experience in D. melanogaster husbandry, genetics, and imaging techniques</li><li>Experience with fly model generation (crosses, balancer genetics), phenotyping, behavioral assays, tissue dissection, and immunostaining is highly preferred</li><li>The candidate must possess excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as at least a two-year commitment to this role</li></ul>

Laboratory Operations &amp; Animal Models 
<ul><li>Oversee general management of the laboratory mouse colony, accounting for approximately 25% of effort.</li><li>Accurately record phenotypic data, including weighing and describing tissues and tumors during necropsies.</li><li>Collect blood samples and administer medications or radiation therapy to animals.</li></ul> 
Experimental Research Activities 
<ul><li>Perform key experiments related to the analysis, purification, and quantification of extracellular vesicles, accounting for approximately 50% of effort.</li><li>Utilize basic molecular biology techniques, including gene cloning, extracellular vesicle purification, cell culture experiments, and tangential flow filtration chromatography.</li><li>Develop new research skills and techniques related to extracellular vesicle projects to support progress and maintain technical proficiency, accounting for approximately 25% of effort.</li></ul> 
Data Management &amp; Documentation
