<div>In this role, the Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians and/or Advanced Care Practitioners and nurses in providing patient care. This role is responsible for validating patient identifiers, preparing patients and rooms for examination, measuring and recording vital signs, drawing blood, and collecting other lab samples. Medical Assistant (FGP) - Manhattan (Prior Authorization Experience Highly Preferred)

<div>Description
The Offsite Medical Secretary II provides secretarial support to the supervising physician in an offsite practice setting. Responsibilities include telephones, reception, patient scheduling, obtain auth/precertification and maintenance of medical records, as assigned. Prepare stat reports and maintain up to date logs and provide follow up. Work directly with Supervisor and Administration to maintain physician schedule up to date on daily basis. 
Responsibilities
1. Clerical, reception and telephone support for the supervising physician.

2. May schedule appointments for patients.

3. Acquires insurance authorizations for procedures and tests ordered by physician.

4. May enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system or prepare prescription refill requests on behalf of the physician, subject to review and approval.

5. Maintains logging system as required for tracking test results.

6. Assists in the maintenance of medical charts and/or electronic medical record (filing, Op Reports, test results, home care forms).

7. Prepares charts, pre-admissions and consent forms as necessary.

8. Retrieves physician correspondence from dictation service.

9. Prepares physicians mail correspondence.

10. Compiles documents for surgical billing packages if appropriate to practice.

11. Helps direct patient flow during practice hours.

12. Discuss payment arrangements with patients prior to office procedures/visits

13. Collect patients copayment/account balance

14. Assist with credentialing

15. Payment posting and record keeping

16. Open and close physicians schedules

17. Assist supervisor/manager with staff schedules and coverage

18. Assist with front desk duties training

19. Performs other duties as assigned 
Qualifications<ul>
<li>High School Diploma/GED.</li>
<li>2-4 years of administrative experience, preferably in a health care/practice environment</li>
<li>(Medical Assistant certificate program completion is required if performing Medical Assistant duties)</li>

 We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Assistant-ACC 23 Endoscopy-Day Shift (35 hours).
 
 
 In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for assisting physicians and nurses in providing patient care.
 
 
 
 Job Responsibilities
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Performs other duties as assigned.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assists patients and communicate with Physicians to obtain prescription renewals as needed.
 </li>
 <li>
 Answers telephone in treatment area and assists staff in scheduling treatments.
 </li>
 <li>
 Cleans and sterilizes designated equipment after use.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assists physicians with procedures (e.g. GI procedures, all medical exams).
 </li>
 <li>
 Assists patient with obtaining food, toileting, ambulating and maintaining comfort.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assures completion of patient charges as per policy.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensures exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient leaves and prepared for the next patient. Assists with light housekeeping duties which include spills.
 </li>
 <li>
 Stocks exam room/treatment rooms with medical supplies, linen, and designated chart forms. Notify the Office Manager when supplies are low.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensures chart is available, with relevant lab work and test reports if indicated, for the physician when the physician sees the patient.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas. Assists in escorting patients and specimens throughout the facility.
 </li>
 <li>
 Obtains vital signs, weights, and EKGs when needed, and all other tests within the scope of the practice. Assist with blood collection/phlebotomy as needed.

 Minimum Qualifications
 
 
 
 To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or the equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution OR upon hire hold a current medical assistant Certification from a Nationally Recognized accredited institution (such as American Association of Medical Assistant(AAMA); American Medical Technologies (AMT); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); National Healthcare Association (NHA)).
 
 
 
 Preferred Qualifications
 
 
 
 MA experience preferred. EKG and/or Spirometry experience preferred.Second language mastery.
