In this role, the successful candidate The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians and/or Advanced Care Practitioners and nurses in providing patient care. This role is responsible for validating patient identifiers, preparing patients and rooms for examination, measuring and recording vital signs, drawing blood, and collecting other lab samples. <ul><li>Assists with inbasket message management including any necessary tasks related to patient medical advice requests as per best practices</li><li>Utilizes EPIC functionality to review and update patient records as well as maintain communication with peers and supervisors related to patient care</li><li>Assists physicians with procedure and/or set-up according to the specialty where necessary</li><li>Stocks exam/treatment rooms and/or supply closets with medical supplies, linen and medical equipment as needed. Effectively communicates as supplies need to be replenished.</li><li>Cleans and sterilizes designated equipment after use, , following organizational policy &amp; guidelines, and with documentation of required competency in place.</li><li>Supports FGP Clinical Quality Management by facilitating appropriate documentation and maintenance of clinical supplies and equipment.</li><li>Reviews appropriate downtime procedures as it relates to patient visit</li><li>Completes annual competencies such as Fire Safety, Hazardous Waste, Medsled, HIPPA compliance, etc.</li><li>Partners with administrative and clinical personnel to complete prior authorization, medication refills and referrals related to patient continuity of care.</li><li>Assists with prescription refill request by locating requested prescription in EMR, identifying last patient visit, and tasking RN, LPN, or Provider to evaluate, set up and/or process for renewal</li><li>Accompanies physician into exam room and transcribes history, including history of present illness, past medical and surgical history, family and social histories, medications and allergies, physical exam, laboratory and radiologic orders as dictated by the MD and document accurately the physician's encounter with the patient.</li><li>List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.</li><li>Documents patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>

Minimum Qualifications: 
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or the equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution OR upon hire hold a current medical assistant Certification from a Nationally Recognized accredited institution (such as American Association of Medical Assistant(AAMA); American Medical Technologies (AMT); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); National Healthcare Association (NHA)). Competencies: Working knowledge of English is evident in verbal, reading and writing abilities; other language an asset; demonstrated ability in computer skills. Ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently and thrive in a team work environment which pursues a positive patient care experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 
MA experience preferred. EKG, phlebotomy and venipuncture experience preferred.

The Medical Assistant I provides clinical office support to physicians and surgeons and performs patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care. This individual is also responsible for assisting with clinical, administrative and organizational tasks associated with patient care coordination. 
Responsibilities
1. Assists the provider during patient visit via obtaining vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pain scale etc) and documenting vital sign results and transcribing medication information into the electronic medical record (EMR).

2. Obtains prior authorizations for prescriptions and durable medical equipment

3. Drafts prescription requests in EMR and sends to provider for review, completion and processing

4. Performs Phlebotomy services inclusive of collecting and processing blood, urine and stool specimens and use of a centrifuge for spinning bloods

5. Performs POCT (w/the exception of glucose) and documents results in EMR for provider to review

6. Performs daily Quality Control for all POCT equipment

7. Orders clinical supplies when necessary

8. Maintains and stocks exam and consult rooms with clinical supplies and clerical forms used by Providers

9. Assists providers with procedures by preparing supplies and equipment and acting as a chaperone as needed.

10. Perform EKGs when ordered by provider

11. Performs pre-visit planning for Diabetic and CHF patients as per practice guidelines

12. Monitor and maintains refrigerator temperature logs and biomed expirations for medical equipment

13. Participates in daily huddles with MDs and other clinical team members to review daily care management patient lists and discuss patient's treatment plan &amp; management

14. Performs age-specific screenings for Activities of Daily Living, Falls, Alcohol, Tobacco, and/or Depression screenings annually for every patient

15. Enters data into the electronic medical record related to medication adherence, diabetes control, foot/eye exam compliance for provider review and reconciliation

16. Assists providers with distributing educational materials to patients

17. Assists Population Health Management team by verifying patient has completed their colorectal screening, breast screening, cervical cancer screening and other pertinent preventive screens.

18. Retrieves information regarding hospital admission and Emergency Room visits from outside facilities for evaluation by provider for transition of care coordination

19. Assists providers with follow-up related to patients on Coumadin therapy

20. Assists at the front desk as needed: answer telephones, register patients, discharge patients, schedule appointments, copy charts, schedule ancillary tests, and follow up on overdue diagnostic test results.

21. Follows Primary Care Medical Home and MACRA protocols for designated role

22. Performs all other job related functions as assigned.

Administrative Assistant I - Surgery

<div>Description
The Ophthalmic Technician assists the Ophthalmologist/Optician and other technical support personnel to perform diagnostics tests necessary for patient evaluation. 
Responsibilities
1. Performs preliminary screening examinations for physician review including, but not limited to, central and peripheral visual field tests; ocular motility tests; color vision tests; pharmacological pupil tests; tonometry, tonography and tensilon tonography tests to determine intraocular pressure and pupil testing for size, equality and reaction prior to dilation.

2. Directs the flow of patients examined by the physician or optician; obtains medical and personal data for patient charts; screens patients for conditions excluding ocular examination; arranges for laboratory and other tests, ophthalmic photography, outpatient studies and patient admissions and surgery as requested by physician; alleviates patient and family concerns by explaining diagnostic procedures and method of treatment.

3. Calibrates and maintains all instruments used including, but not limited to bio-microscopes, lensometer, keratometer, tangent screen, slit lamp and tonometers; cleans and stocks consultation rooms and microbiology laboratory with drugs and other supplies as needed.

4. Sterilizes and sets up instruments for ophthalmic surgical procedures; assists with minor office surgery, laser treatments and operating room surgery as required.

5. Performs other duties as assigned.
