Duties &amp; Responsibilities</b></h2><div><br>

</div><p><b>Purpose of Position</b>:
</p><p>Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and in consultation with bio-medical and other appropriate personnel, provide direct care to patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis treatment in outpatient end stage renal disease (ESRD) facilities. Act in compliance with corporate, facility and all relevant regulatory policies.</p><p><b>
Examples of Typical Tasks</b>:</p><p>
1. Prepare dialysis machine for treatment, including priming of dialyzer, performing machine alarm check and confirming machine pH, conductivity and temperature in accordance with formal written and oral directions and policies; appropriately document all findings.
</p><p>2. Monitor equipment for proper functioning and ensure machine conductivity and temperature are maintained at all times.</p><p>
3. Assure that sufficient supplies are available in treatment area.</p><p>
4. Inspect and monitor the arteriovenous (AV) fistula or AV graft and report problem(s) to assigned RN.</p><p>
5. Upon RN&rsquo;s assessment, initiate hemodialysis treatment. Obtain and document pre-treatment vital signs and weight. In collaboration with RN, determine amount of fluid to be removed in order to reach patient&rsquo;s prescribed dry weight. Cannulate the AV fistula or AV graft as per policy and provider&rsquo;s prescription.</p><p>
6. Observe, monitor and record patient&rsquo;s vital signs during treatment; identify abnormal changes and immediately report such results to assigned RN.</p><p>
7. Under direct supervision of assigned RN, administer saline during hypotensive emergency.</p><p>
8. Terminate hemodialysis treatment and disconnect patient from machine. Remove needles and ensure minimum blood loss. Obtain and document post-treatment vital signs and weight.</p><p>
9. Strip and clean machine with approved disinfectant(s) after each treatment and set-up machine for use by the next patient.
</p><p>10. Obtain specimens and studies as ordered by providers.</p><p>
11. Collaborate with assigned RN on individualized hemodialysis treatment plan, when appropriate, in order to meet the patient&rsquo;s continued health needs.</p><p>
12. Set-up and breakdown dialysis machines and other appropriate equipment.</p><p>
13. Participate in facility quality assurance/performance improvement (QA/PI) initiatives.</p><p>
14. Participate in training and seminars and team/committee meetings.<br>

4. Completion of an approved facility-based training program in the performance of basic life support procedures including certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.<br>

This is a physically demanding position requiring employees to lift, carry, push and pull dialysis machines, related equipment and/or supplies which vary in weight and size, as well as stand and walk for extended periods of time. BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification. Technicians assist the pharmacy team to ensure that pharmacy operations run smoothly, our patients&rsquo; prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and we are providing caring service that exceeds patient expectations. Technicians operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication. Throughout their shifts and in all customer and colleague interactions, they demonstrate genuine care and contribute to a safe and inclusive culture where all people feel valued and empowered.</p><p></p><p>
Once in role, Technicians are required to complete a rigorous company training program and satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements according to their State&rsquo;s Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Until the Pharmacy Technician has completed all necessary requirements, duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager.</p><p></p><p>
A Technician is responsible for contributing to safe and effective operations of the pharmacy, including but not limited to:</p><p></p><ul><li>
