11.Defrosts frozen antibiotic intravenous mini-bags.

12.Prepares antibiotic concentrate and aseptically adds to diluents mini-bags.

13.Rotates all antibiotic products to maintain the maximum expiration and properly disposes of all expired products.

14.Fills orders for satellites not involved with centralized IV program.

15.Maintains the area in a neat and hygienic manner.

16.Properly disposes of all intravenous needles and tubing and equipment.

17.Assists in maintaining all required records.

18.Provides general assistance to the pharmacist.

19.Maintains inventory of all needed intravenous supplies.

20.Prepares all pre-manufactured I.V.s with patient label to be checked by pharmacist.

21.Delivery of patient IVs to nursing units.

22.Performs all related duties as required.

Pharmacy Benefits Operations Specialist - Remote

<div>Description
Responsible for carrying out Clinical Pharmacy services with primary practice in the area of Internal Medicine with an emphasis in Transitions of Care. Promotes clinically rational drug therapy and sound pharmaceutical care through the development of new (or expansion of existing) pharmacy practice programs, drug therapy policies, and other programs. Serves as Clinical Pharmacy resource for the Health System and its affiliated pharmacy services. Responsible to serve as a preceptor for the PGY-1 residency program, and for students from local Colleges of Pharmacy. Conducts research and other scholarly activities throughout the year with the goal of publishing. Supervises and guides Pharmacists on the optimal provision of care to ensure professional development, and through use of their independent judgment, directs and disciplines their employees. Other responsibilities include patient care rounds, clinical interventions, medication use evaluations and institutional committee membership. 
Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks: &bull; Conducts and participates in departmental activities to meet the goals, objectives and policies of the department, hospital/medical center, by the standards set forth by Federal and State Regulatory agencies and The Joint Commission &bull; Develops and implements policies and procedures to meet professional standards and improve medications safety, including those established by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) &bull; Implements decisions of and provides support for the Pharmacy &amp; Therapeutics committee by preparing drug evaluations and assisting in formulary maintenance &bull; Uses an interdisciplinary approach to collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the cost, utilization, safety and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens, and the elimination of unnecessary duplication of service, in order to provide optimization of medication therapy &bull; Attends interdisciplinary rounds and provides, and follows up, on recommended interventions with prescribers, interdisciplinary care team, other pharmacists, patients and/or caregivers, including appropriate documentation of recommendations and interventions &bull; Engages in active patient-centered medication therapy management, including medication reconciliation services and discharge services, patient counseling on appropriate medical therapy, conducting comprehensive medication reviews, and targeted interventions to assess appropriateness of all medications in order to improve clinical outcomes, reduce unnecessary readmission, lapses in care, and adverse drug reactions. &bull; Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information &bull; Coordinates the provision of pharmaceutical care by pharmacy department members &bull; Ensures the work environment is well maintained &bull; Demonstrates initiative and leadership

2. Remains current with various pharmaceutical databases, national guidelines, and follows evidence-based medicine for medication therapy management of disease states

Provides education to patients, family members, and/or caretakers about disease states and medications, including: &bull; Desired results and/or goals of chronic disease states &bull; Name, strength, description, and purpose of each medication &bull; How to administer each medication timely, safely, and appropriately &bull; How agents work to attain adequate therapy &bull; Interacting foods, disease states, and drugs where appropriate &bull; Importance of therapeutic drug monitoring for efficacy and toxicity &bull; Recognition of disease state exacerbation and procedures to follow in these instances &bull; Recognition of side effects of therapy and the importance of notifying his/her physician if any should occur &bull; Importance of adherence to pharmacotherapy and appointments &bull; Aids to increase medication adherence

4. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area. Educational/Professional Development &bull; Participates in the development of other staff members by identifying the learning needs of pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals through education on but not limited to: clinical appropriateness of medications, dose adjustments, drug selection based on formulary, drug interactions, drug cost, and patient safety &bull; Serves as a preceptor for the residency program, and for students from local colleges of pharmacy &bull; Designs and implements appropriate trainings and development programs in a timely fashion to maintain contemporary practice

6. Supervisory Functions &bull; Supervises pharmacy employees &bull; Interviews candidates for pharmacy management and staff positions &bull; Implements discipline and corrective action plans for assigned pharmacy staff &bull; Promotion of employees based on assessment of clinical skills, if applicable &bull; Responsible for employee performance evaluations for assigned staff &bull; Attends and contributes to pharmacy management meetings &bull; Provides off-hour coverage for the department

The salary range for the role is $127044 - $190565 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
