Since 2016, Correctional Health Services (CHS) has been the direct provider of health care in the New York City jails. Deeply committed to human dignity and patient rights, CHS is part of the NYC Health + Hospitals system and is a key partner in the City&rsquo;s efforts to reform the criminal-legal system. Our in-jail clinical services include medical, nursing, and mental health care; pharmacy services; substance-use treatment; social work; dental and vision care; discharge planning; and reentry support.</p><p><b>
Position Overview</b></p><p>
Under supervision of the Site Medical Director, the Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive, compassionate, and thoughtful care to our patients in the New York City jail system. The Physician Assistant will provide general primary care including conducting histories and physicals, diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses, and evaluating the need for consult services</p><p><b>
Responsibilities include:</b></p><ul><li>
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses. Evaluate the need for consult services and submit the prioritized consult when indicated.</li><li>
Complete comprehensive histories and physicals on all new admissions including documentation of problem list, diagnosis, orders (e.g. labs, imaging and referrals) and ordering appropriate medications where applicable.</li><li>
Evaluate patients requesting sick call, schedule follow-ups and update medication orders.</li><li>
Update problem lists and reconcile patient orders at all visits.</li><li>
Implement plans for patientcare utilizing protocols approved by the Medical Director and/or treatment plans reflecting the current standard of care.</li><li>
Request radiology exams, lab tests, EKGs when clinically indicated and interpret these results based on clinical findings and in consultation with supervisors where appropriate.</li><li>
Review all specialty consults and hospital returns to ensure that the standard of care is met and recommendations of the consultant are implemented.</li><li>
Perform chart reviews and summaries for patients transferring facilities including updating problem lists, rewriting medication orders, and reconciling orders and consults as needed.</li><li>
Generate special needs referrals and documentation as needed (for patients with (disabilities, dietary restrictions, heat sensitivity, or other relevant flags).</li><li>
Teach patients about their medical conditions and treatments; counsel on risks and benefits of different treatment decisions; witness, sign, and document patient refusals of care.</li><li>
Ensure that all progress notes and orders are signed before the end of the shift.</li><li>
Respond to emergencies in a timely and professional manner.</li><li>
Notify the staff MD and Urgicare about 3 hour runs and EMS activation.</li><li>
Complete special housing rounds when assigned.</li><li>
Be familiar with quality of care and population health indicators. Take appropriate action to meet</li><li>
or exceed standards.</li><li>
Maintain clinical competency by participating in all CME and CHS training and in-service requirements.</li><li>
Maintain your schedule as directed with particular attention to punctuality and timely notification of absences.</li><li>
Adhere to policies and procedures of CHS and be familiar with them by reviewing them as needed.</li><li>
Complete tasks as delegated by a Site Medical Director or other supervising clinical team member.</li><li>
Maintain and provide documentation of all required credentials.</li><li>
Maintain professional attitude and appearance.</li><li>
Adhere to Occupational Health Services requirements.</li></ul>

4. Possession of a valid Life Support certification (e.g., Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)) is required in the appropriate practice area through the American Heart Association (AHA) within sixty (60) calendar days of appointment to the title.</p>

Completion of a Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution OR upon hire hold a current medical assistant Certification from a Nationally Recognized accredited institution (such as American Association of Medical Assistant(AAMA); American Medical Technologies (AMT); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); National Healthcare Association (NHA)). Competencies: Working knowledge of English is evident in verbal, reading and writing abilities; other language an asset; demonstrated ability in computer skills. <p></p><div><div>The Field Reimbursement Manager (FRM) is responsible for managing an assigned territory focused on supporting Reimbursement and Patient services by providing assistance with patient reimbursement challenges for a specific drug (including Benefit Investigation, Prior Authorization, Claims Assistance, and Appeals) and educating the office on Payer landscape and services available through both remote interaction and on-site training. This position is client-facing and customer-facing and requires the ability to build relationships with physician offices as well as manufacturer representatives to effectively deliver services based on customer specific preferences. The Field Reimbursement Manager works independently in a fast paced, highly visible environment as well as collaboratively with the internal program hub support services to ensure all customer needs are met. FRM will frequently interact via telephone with providers and internal staff to arrange site visits, Manufacturer trainings, and educational training venues. Must have a solid working knowledge of Medicare and Commercial insurance plans and benefit structures in order to relay detailed benefit information and maximize the customer experience. Position will require travel, project management and/or account coordination based on client expectation.</div>
</div><p></p><div><p><b>Key Responsibilities:</b></p>
<ul><li><p>Provide on-site and on-demand education (including Lunch and Learns or Dinner presentations) for the office staff in regard to Reimbursement challenges and support services that are available. Office interaction will include education and reimbursement support. On-site/virtual interactions will average 15 per week. These activities are recorded in FRM CRM daily with reporting to manager weekly.</p>
</li><li><p>Educate on Benefit Investigation, Prior Authorization Process, Support Center Services, Medicare and Commercial coverage and patient communication streams. Monthly activity reporting captures educational topics at FRM level reportable to client based on client expectation. This trended data is also reported quarterly to client.</p>
</li><li><p>Reimbursement Support on Case management, billing and coding updates, appropriate claims submission, Specialty Pharmacy, Medical Benefit Interpretation, understanding medical necessity, claims and appeal assistance, information related to co-pay assistance and patient assistance programs. FRM will collaborate with case manager on average of 4/month and ad hoc as needed for escalations. These interactions are tracked in FRM CRM and hub system.</p>
</li><li><p>Responsible for setting up appointments and completing outbound calls to targeted offices. Assist in completing backlog casework. Additional day-to-day in-office work. Interface with physicians and manufacturer representatives to obtain and provide patient and provider specific information. All FRM interactions/activities are tracked in FRM CRM which are reportable to management and client.</p>
</li><li><p>Monitor program performance for physicians and manufacturer representatives in accordance with expectations. Territory performance will be monitored via FRM CRM dashboard daily. Trending results will be identified through quarterly reporting. Additionally, clients have the option to survey customers on program performance.</p>
</li><li><p>Research and compile provider / manufacturer representative specific information for reimbursement database. (Includes account profiles) FRM will create a facility database on each new provider in FRM CRM. All interactions/activities are built utilizing this database.</p>
</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Minimum Job Qualifications &ndash;
</b></p><ul><li><p>4-year degree in related field or equivalent experience</p>
</li><li><p>4+ years of healthcare related reimbursement experience</p><br>

<b>Business Experience &ndash;
</b></p><ul><li><p>Strong medical reimbursement experience with Buy &amp; Bill and/or Specialty Pharmacy.</p>
</li><li><p>Experience supporting oncology products preferred</p>
</li><li><p>Experience in the healthcare industry including, but not limited to insurance verification, prior authorizations, and/or claim adjudication, physician&rsquo;s office or clinics.</p>
</li><li><p>Must have Medicare and commercial insurance coverage experience.</p>
</li><li><p>Must be able to deliver and document benefit investigation outcomes and relay status reports on a regular basis.</p>
</li><li><p>Proven presentation skills and experience</p>
</li><li><p>Proven ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and excellent organizational skills</p>
