<div>This PRN, day shift position will work varied weekdays from 7:30am-4:00pm in the Pulmonary Rehab Department based on needs of the department; will be required to work a minimum of four shifts per month. Seeking individuals who are also willing to cross train and pick up shifts in the Respiratory Care Services Department.<br>

At Houston Methodist, the Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) position is responsible for performing routine respiratory care procedures as assigned, varying in complexity which include, but are not limited to, preparation, administration and monitoring of medication and treatment modalities and gas therapy, ventilator support, spirometry and assistance with bronchoscopy. This position may perform diagnostic testing of the cardiac respiratory system, as appropriate. As a member of the direct patient care team, the RCP position provides direct assistance to physicians and other care health professionals, with respiratory care-related procedures within the scope of the professional licensure. This position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to standards and guidelines established by respiratory and regulatory agencies and Houston Methodist to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.

Performs respiratory care to include but not limited to: arterial blood gas and analysis, pulse oximetry, spirometry and flow volume loops, lung volume determination, airway resistance measurement, breath diffusion capacity, bronchoprovocation testing, maximal inspiratory and expiratory pressures, bronchodilator administration, diagnostic radiology procedures. Prepares, administers and monitors treatment modalities and medication delivery. Implements, monitors and evaluates ventilator support.
</li><li>Performs other procedures and tests as needed and if assigned, such as Electrocardiograms, Holter&rsquo;s, and Arterial Blood Gas.
</li><li>Provides care for the physical needs of patients by executing various respiratory care concepts to maximize performance, which includes positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. Modifies technical factors to achieve desired results and recognizes complications / limitations associated with certain procedures. Proactively identifies how to address these for optimum outcomes.
</li><li>Uses peer-to-peer accountability to contribute towards improving department score for patient satisfaction

Troubleshoots, calibrates and performs preventive maintenance and quality control on all equipment and analyzers per department guidelines, documenting activities. Assembles, prepares, cleans and operates bronchoscopy equipment, monitoring equipment and accessories in accordance with manufacturing recommendations and department guidelines. Reports malfunctions.
</li><li>Provides direct assistance to physicians, performing tests as ordered, assessing and assuring quality, acceptability and reliability of results; takes corrective action and involves others as needed toward achievement of this end.

Job Summary and Qualifications</b></h5><p></p><p>
The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.</p><p><b><br>
What you will do in this role:</b></p><br>

You will perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.</li><br>
<li>
You will administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.</li><br>
<li>
You will assist with placement of artificial airways. You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.</li><br>
<li>
You will monitor patient for therapeutic response. You will notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.</li><br>
<li>
You will assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.</li><br>
<li>
You will respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.</li></ul><p></p><h6 class="jobSectionHeader"><b><br>

Job Summary and Qualifications</b></h5><p>
The Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) performs all modes of respiratory therapy in patients of varying ages and medical conditions. Therapy is performed in accordance with the standards of practice as defined by HCA Houston Medical Center. The Respiratory Care Practitioner works independently, utilizing a variety of sophisticated instruments and technology and demonstrates good judgment and decision making in the treatment and handling of the individual patient. The Lead RRT may oversee other staff and assist the department management as directed. Also, identifies opportunities for continuous improvements of processes and services on an on-going basis.</p><p><b>
