Job Summary and Qualifications</h5>
The Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) performs all modes of respiratory therapy in patients of varying ages and medical conditions. Therapy is performed in accordance with the standards of practice as defined by HCA Houston Medical Center. The Respiratory Ancillary Supervisor will be accountable for Respiratory, Pulmonary Function Laboratory, Bronchoscopy Services and Neurophysiology Services (based on pavilion needs). Coordinate staff and workload to ensure safe patient care. Schedule and assign areas of responsibility for staff. Maintain open lines of communication with physicians and nurses. Job Summary and Qualifications</h5>
Under general supervision initiates, assesses, and evaluates all forms of respiratory therapy including bronchodilators, chest physical therapy, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive and invasive ventilator care. Exercises technical knowledge in respiratory anatomy, physiology, and pathology as well as the design and operations of all respiratory therapy equipment. The RCP demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to neonates, infants, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Position Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a staff position preferred.
Education:
Current permanent or temporary license issued by the Texas Department of Health to practice Respiratory Care. RRT/RCP
Special Qualifications:
Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population of the patients served.
Current BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
Anyone assigned to PICU must maintain current PALS certification from the American Heart Association.
Anyone assigned to NICU must maintain current NRP certification from the American Heart Association.

As a Respiratory Therapist, you&rsquo;ll play an essential role in guiding patients through both routine care and critical moments. You&rsquo;ll perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while managing invasive and noninvasive ventilation across a variety of care settings. Your role will include:
<ul><li>Assessing respiratory status by performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, and determining the need for respiratory interventions.</li><li>
Delivering evidence-based therapy by providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings.</li><li>
Managing ventilation and airways by assisting with artificial airway placement, initiating and adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation, monitoring patient responses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies.</li><li>
Supporting patients and the care team by educating patients and families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed.</li><li>
Maintaining equipment and safety by setting up, operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensuring readiness and preventive maintenance; transporting ventilated patients safely; and following all infection-prevention standards.</li></ul>
