Overview
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Social Media and Content, the Manager of Social Media will be responsible for the management and growth of the organization's presence on Social Media: briefing engaging content, building a strong community, and driving brand awareness and engagement.

 Pitchfork is seeking an enthusiastic Associate Social Media Manager to lead day-to-day social posting and social media strategy in partnership with the Director of Audience Development. This role is responsible for daily posting across all social media channels, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and X/Twitter, and will also work in close collaboration with the video team to create social-first video content. This position is also responsible for working with the editorial team on cover launches and features, commercial sponsorship deliverables and partnerships, attending and covering social rollouts at events, and collaborating with audience development leads on growth strategy.
 
 
 Along with a passion for storytelling and attention to detail, the candidate must have in-depth social media experience and a proven history of growing social audiences. The role is intended for someone who cares deeply about the important topics we cover, has strong writing skills, knowledge of analytical tools, and is enthusiastic about joining an agile team. This person has an instinct for what&rsquo;s on (and off) brand, has an eye for powerful visuals, understands how data can inform a smart editorial and social strategy, and is an expert at juggling multiple projects, managing deadlines, distilling social numbers into actionable insights, and advocating for strong social content across the organization.
 
 
 Primary Responsibilities:
 
 
 <ul>

 Write, schedule, and optimize daily posts across multiple social platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X/Twitter, and Bluesky
 </li>
 <li>
 Manage playlists and execute strategies to grow Pitchfork&rsquo;s presence across music streaming platforms
 </li>
 <li>
 Produce daily newsletters using Pitchfork templates in adherence to brand style guidelines and quality assurance practices
 </li>
 <li>
 Write top-notch social media copy in the Pitchfork tone of voice with high attention to detail
 </li>
 <li>
 Work closely with editorial stakeholders to roll out cover stories, features, reviews, and news stories across social media platforms
 </li>
 <li>
 Make content recommendations to the editorial team informed by social media trends
 </li>
 <li>
 Pitch social angles and social-extension ideas that align with editorial objectives across both print and digital
 </li>
 <li>
 Build creative assets for various social platforms and write creative briefs for assets
 </li>
 <li>
 Collaborate with video producers on the ideation and creation of social first videos and franchises
 </li>
 <li>
 Coordinate with editors and publicists to ensure talent promotion on social
 </li>
 <li>
 Brainstorm new ideas and plan rollout strategies for testing with the audience development team
 </li>
 <li>
 Attend events, concerts, and music festivals to cover social media posting
 </li>
 <li>
 Monitor social media conversation and ideate reactive content for engagement on key social platforms
 </li>
 <li>
 Plan, design, and implement successful social strategies around covers and tentpoles (such as Grammys, Coachella)
 </li>
 <li>
 Report on content performance and present social insights and best practices to Pitchfork and Cond&eacute; Nast&rsquo;s digital and audience development team
 </li>
 <li>
 Oversee social media content calendars considering key tentpoles, events, and Pitchfork schedules
 </li>
 <li>
 Engage with our audience through thoughtful, impactful, relationship-driven communication and assist with community moderation across platforms

 Requirements:
 
 
 <ul>

 A minimum requirement of 2+ years social media management experience
 </li>
 <li>
 Passionate about existing and emergent social media platforms and growing audiences
 </li>
 <li>
 A strong understanding of social media trends and how to translate these into content for brands
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity of social video content and formats (experience of video strategy a bonus)
 </li>
 <li>
 Positive team player and an enthusiastic work ethic
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity with Pitchfork&rsquo;s editorial content and tone of voice
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong writing and communication skills
 </li>
 <li>
 Good understanding of social media analytics and how to use data to inform strategy
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience optimizing social media content for engagement and/or traffic
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong editorial judgement
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent organizational skills, focus, and attention to detail
 </li>
 <li>
 An established ability to synthesize and communicate information quickly
 </li>
 <li>
 Must complete an edit test (writing samples are a plus)
 </li>
 <li>
 Some weekend and evening work may be required

 This is a guild position.
 
 
 The expected base salary range for this position is from $71,500-$80,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
 
 
 In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
