The Summer Associate VISTA program allows for organizations throughout WV to supplement their anti-poverty activities with an infusion of &quot;hands-on volunteers&quot; during the summer months.<br>

The focus of this particular position is youth services (from infants through teens.) The employee will work under the general supervision of the Director to plan, organize, and develop a variety of youth programs and provide reference and readers&rsquo; advisory services to youth and parents. Promotion of such services and resources to the community will also be expected. The employee must be familiar with library policies and procedures and be able to work well with the public including children, young adults, and adults demonstrating tact, a positive attitude, and showing creativity and self-direction. Work with community volunteers for youth programs may be involved. Public service involves circulation, reference, telephone contacts, and correspondence. Knowledge of library resources and the ability to direct patrons to them with accuracy and courtesy are essential.</p><p>Youth services library assistants are responsible for the accurate completion of library clerical tasks including shelving, filing, shelf reading, and keyboarding. </div></div><div><div><b>Engine Operator I</b>: They are expected to have basic fire fighting skills and knowledge of basic fire behavior. The work involves activities related to wildland fire suppression/management/control as a firefighter on an engine, helideck module, or hand crew. Other related duties might involve fire prevention, patrol, fuels management projects and repair of and will be required to assist other Fire Management staff with various work projects such as cutting and piling vegetation, operating ATVs, grass seeding, fencing and mowing. The nature of work is characterized by the varied nature of assignments</div></div><div><div><b>
Engine Operator II:</b> This position is the equivalent of the advanced firefighter/squad boss (FFT 1). This position may be required to supervise 5-7 firefighters, or act as the Engine Crew Leader if one is not present. This position is expected to have advanced fire knowledge of basic fire behavior. The work involves activities related to Wildland fire suppression/management/control as a firefighter on an engine, helideck module, or hand crew. Other related duties might involve fire prevention, patrol, fuels management projects and repair of firefighting tools, equipment and facilities. Employees will also work as part of the Prescribed Burn Crew and will be required to assist other Fire Management staff with various work projects such as cutting and piling vegetation, operating UTVs, grass seeding, fencing and mowing.
