The Construction Superintendent II/III leads complex trade scopes or multiple crews within a major project, providing direct field leadership to ensure work is executed in accordance with approved scope, safety requirements, quality standards, and schedule commitments. This role supports self-performance operations while collaborating closely with the Lead Superintendent on jobsite logistics, resource planning, and sequencing, mentoring junior field leaders, workforce coordination, and union engagement while assisting with advanced planning and execution activities. 
This position also supports the implementation of field technology, sustainability practices, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and operational efficiency. This role will report onsite in New Florence, MO daily.

</h2><div><div><div><ul><li>Leads and coordinates assigned trade contractors, self-performed crews, and field activities to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved scope, schedule, and quality requirements</li><li>
Develops, documents, and communicates detailed work plans for assigned scopes and ensures compliance with approved work plans and field directives</li><li>
Maintains a thorough understanding of contract documents, drawings, specifications, and coordination requirements to support effective trade-level planning; verifies that all required permits, inspections, and compliance documentation are in place for assigned work areas</li><li>
Acts as the primary Next 150 safety representative for assigned scopes, enforces applicable safety policies and procedures, and supports a strong safety-first culture in the field</li><li>
Oversees quality control for assigned trades, conducts inspections, documents findings, and implements corrective actions to maintain compliance with project and company standards</li><li>
Leads contractor meetings related to assigned scopes and coordinates activities with field and project leadership</li><li>
Maintains accurate daily field reports, safety documentation, and production records using Procore and other required systems</li><li>
Creates and manages trade-level schedules and implements contingency plans to maintain commitments and mitigate impacts; communicates schedule status, constraints, and updates to the applicable team</li><li>
Plans and manages jobsite logistics for assigned scopes, including access, material flow, temporary facilities, and sequencing</li><li>
Assists in resolving jurisdictional disputes and field-level conflicts within assigned scopes</li><li>
Tracks production, labor hours, and productivity metrics, and reports variances to field leadership</li><li>
Executes self-perform operations for assigned scopes, including workforce planning and quantification of labor, materials, and equipment needs</li><li>
Assists with forecasting and cost-of-work projections for assigned scopes</li><li>
Coaches and mentors less experienced team members; trains team members to help support skill development and consistent execution</li><li>

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s or Master&rsquo;s degree in Engineering or Construction Management</li><li>
Minimum 2-8 years of experience in a superintendent role on construction projects</li><li>
OSHA 30 hour certified</li><li>

GENERAL DUTIES
This class of positions encompasses professional engineering work and project management of the University's capital and rehabilitation construction program. There are three assignment levels within this class of positions. At each level a University engineer may sign and seal engineering drawings for which that individual has supervisory or preparatory responsibility, and may sign and seal other official documents. All personnel perform related work.
Assignment Level I
Under general supervision, performs responsible supervisory, or difficult and responsible engineering work, such as the following:
<ul><li>Is in charge of a Unit of major field of engineering.</li>
<li>
Plans, assigns and reviews the work of subordinates, prepares progress reports, and may represent a college or the University in relations with contractors and their representatives, damage claimants and their representatives, and consultants.</li>
<li>
Engages in or supervises the conduct of complex and important research, investigations, or studies related to engineering.</li>
<li>
Makes interpretative detail sketches or layouts of engineering plans.</li>
<li>
Assists in the preparation of documents for bidding, advertisements for bids and in the final selection of successful bidders.</li>
<li>
Meets with contractors, manufacturer's representatives, consultants, college administrators, Central Office and in-house staff to review project details and to identify concerns.</li>
<li>
Prepares reports on contracts, estimates, modifications, and recommendations of award.</li>
<li>
Reviews projects designed by outside consultants or subordinates and provide in-depth written comments.</li>

Participates in the development of proposals for such major engineering projects as the acquisition or disposition of a College or University property or the public or private use of such property; may conduct surveys in the development of such proposals.</li>

Maintains and files reference materials and projects drawings for such purposes as an engineering resource library. This may include duplicating and distributing of materials.</li>

May supervise University Assistant Engineers, other related professionals, and support personnel.</li>
</ul>
Assignment Level II
Under direction, with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment or action, performs highly difficult and responsible work in a recognized field of engineering, and is responsible for providing engineering related management services for projects of some complexity, such as the following:
<ul><li>Serves as a consultant on major engineering matters of a College or the University.</li>
<li>
Coordinates projects with other related professionals.</li>
<li>
Applies in-depth knowledge of legal matters related to engineering.</li>
<li>
Directs very complex and important research.</li>
<li>
Supervises a special and difficult project.</li>
<li>
Reviews reports of lower engineers on the preparation of construction documents and adherence to project program and budget for small maintenance or alteration projects; directly monitors if necessary.</li>
<li>
Makes periodic field inspections to assure the timely completion of project phases in compliance with the contract, and pertinent building codes, zoning resolutions and other pertinent statutes, rules and regulations.</li>
<li>
Is in charge of more than one unit of major fields of engineering.</li>
<li>
May supervise lower level engineers, other related professionals, and support personnel.</li>
<li>
Assists in the preparation of consultant services contracts.</li>
<li>
Acts as point of contract and liaison within the University and with outside governmental agencies.</li>
<li>
When necessary, periodically performs the duties described under assignments Level I.</li>

Assignment Level III
<ul><li>Serves as a consultant on extremely complex and highly specialized engineering matters.</li>
<li>
Directs all aspects of research on extremely complex and important engineering projects.</li>
<li>
Supervises the generation or review of multiple proposals or reports of a complex nature. Reviews such proposals and recommends for approval.</li>
<li>
Supervises multiple special and difficult projects.</li>
<li>
Represents the University on major engineering projects at major decision making levels.</li>
<li>
Acts as point of contact and liaison for the Office of Facilities Planning and Management with the Colleges, Central Office Staff, and governmental agencies.</li>
<li>
May supervise lower level engineers, other related professionals and support personnel.</li>
<li>
Coordinates all activities for projects assigned.</li>
<li>
Conducts project meetings with consultants.</li>
<li>
Reviews field reports.</li>
<li>
Reviews, recommends and/or approves change orders in accordance with procedures.</li>

Baruch College Campus Facilities reporting to the Assistant Vice President has over 150 administrative and professional staff, custodial and skilled trades. The Planning Office within the Campus Facilities is responsible for the College&rsquo;s planning, design, and construction projects. The office also manages the space programming; enhancements and renovations throughout the campus; the annual capital plan submittal; and signage. Additionally the office is supported by the Director of Operations, Chief Administration Superintendent, Environmental Health &amp; Safety Officer and others. The University Engineer will report directly to the Planning Director within Campus Planning.
<ul><li>Provide engineering oversight for multiple concurrent capital, DASNY-managed, and in-house construction projects across Baruch College&rsquo;s five academic buildings and public plaza, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, building codes, and University requirements.</li>
<li>
Review and coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, fire protection, and building systems designs for renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and modernization projects to support campus operations and long-term facility performance.</li>
<li>
Manage engineering aspects of campus-wide improvement initiatives, including HVAC replacements, energy efficiency projects, accessibility upgrades, life-safety improvements, and deferred maintenance programs.</li>
<li>
Conduct technical evaluations, prepare engineering recommendations, review consultant and contractor submittals, and monitor project execution to ensure quality, safety, sustainability, and operational reliability.</li>
<li>
Serve as the engineering liaison among Facilities Planning and Management, DASNY, consultants, contractors, and campus stakeholders, providing professional engineering judgment and technical leadership throughout project planning, design, construction, and commissioning.</li>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
<div><ul><li>A baccalaureate degree in engineering from an accredited college and four years of full-time experience in professional engineering work in the required field; and</li></ul>
<ul><li>
A valid New York State Professional Engineer's license; OR</li></ul>
<ul><li>
Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 above. However, all candidates must possess a valid NYS Professional Engineer's license.</li></ul>
<ul><li>
In addition, the candidates are required to have one year of project management experience for assignment Level II and two years of project management experience for Level III. Graduate degree in Public Administration/Business Administration from an accredited college may be substituted for one year of project management experience for Level III on the basis of 48 credits for one year of experience.</li></ul>

<ul><li>This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression in effect for the first 24 months of employment only.</li></ul>
