Summary</h2></div><div>
The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery (department) in the Division of Cardio/Thoracic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) seeks a highly qualified individual with a PhD and postdoctoral experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Medical Informatics or Equivalent Field. The Assistant Professor would serve as scientific lead for Dr. Ravi Ghanta, overseeing the Department of Surgery ATLAS AI program they would make decisions and take responsibility for scientific progress and help Dr. Ghanta manage the large team involved in the grant. 
Under this role, the Assistant Professor will work on research projects involving machine learning and artificial intelligence with application to electronic health data. The Assistant Professor is expected to be able to perform overseeing data engineering of electronic health data for application of machine learning or artificial intelligence tools, interoperability with EHR systems, and evaluation of algorithm predictive performance. The Assistant Professor is also expected to lead research personnel involved in the Dept of Surgery ATLAS Ai program. They will interact directly with postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and medical students.</div></div><div><div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Job Duties</h2></div><div><ul><li>Oversee and coordinate logistics and execution of various research projects.</li><li>Manage project progress and execution of project goals and milestones.</li><li>Plan and direct research experiments related to research studies implementing the MasSpec Pen technology for tissue analysis and cancer detection.</li><li>Organize, evaluate, and analyze data with other researchers.</li><li>Develop research techniques and perform applications required for specific research projects.</li><li>Conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study.</li><li>Document results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.</li><li>Supervise, schedule and coordinate the activities of the research team involved in multiple research projects.</li><li>Write progress reports, manuscripts and grant proposals.</li><li>Manage execution of experiments using mass spectrometry instrumentation, as well as data and statistical analysis.</li><li>Lead clinical studies and participate in research involving human subjects. Medical Assistant Novice II- Neurosurgery (Katy/West Houston)

<div>At Houston Methodist, the Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) position is responsible for functioning as an expert and demonstrates highly competent knowledge in the more technical and advances examinations and treatments necessary to communicate appropriately and carry out delegated medical assistant level tasks under the direct supervision of a Physician and/or Registered Nurse for assigned patient populations, for providing high quality support of patient care and services. This position oversees appropriate scope of practice (i.e. Hand Hygiene Validator, EMR super-user). <div>At Houston Methodist, the Physician Assistant (PA) (ACLS) functions as an advanced practice practitioner, responsible for maintaining and promoting the health of the patient requiring care, practicing medicine under the supervision of a licensed physician. This position will provide diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical and preventative care, under the supervision of a physician. The PA (ACLS) position exams, diagnoses and decides treatment for patients, including analyzing and interpreting x-rays and lab results, writes prescriptions, takes patients' histories, provides surgical assistance, and orders various forms of therapy. This position may work in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently under the license of a physician or as part of a treatment team. Physician Assistant - Neurosurgery (Medical Center)

<div>At Houston Methodist, the Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) position is responsible for functioning as an expert and demonstrates highly competent knowledge in the more technical and advances examinations and treatments necessary to communicate appropriately and carry out delegated medical assistant level tasks under the direct supervision of a Physician and/or Registered Nurse for assigned patient populations, for providing high quality support of patient care and services. This position oversees appropriate scope of practice (i.e. Hand Hygiene Validator, EMR super-user). The Sr. MA position assists with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes. This position also performs general administrative duties in accordance with CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA and government standards, as well as company policies and procedures. The Sr. MA position participates in patient care which is under the direction of a physician and within the scope of a medical assistant.
