We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Pediatric Gastroenterology team. This role is focused on our Ambulatory Constipation Clinic, where you will lead the evaluation and management of patients with chronic functional constipation.
As the primary point of contact for these families, you will initiate comprehensive care plans and provide the consistent follow-up necessary to achieve successful long-term outcomes.
Key Responsibilities<ul><li>
Clinical Assessment: Lead comprehensive evaluations of pediatric patients, including detailed history-taking, physical examinations, and the review of prior diagnostic studies.</li><li>
Evidence-Based Management: Diagnose and manage functional constipation using current clinical guidelines, initiating both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.</li><li>
Individualized Care: Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to each child&rsquo;s needs, including dietary interventions and behavioral modification strategies.</li><li>
Patient Monitoring: Oversee patient progress and adjust regimens through a combination of in-person and telehealth follow-up visits.</li><li>
Care Escalation: Identify red-flag symptoms and collaborate closely with attending gastroenterologists to escalate care when medically necessary.</li><li>
Family Education: Provide clear, developmentally appropriate education regarding bowel function, toileting behaviors, hydration, and medication adherence.</li><li>
Psychosocial Support: Address the emotional and social aspects of chronic constipation, including toileting anxiety and school-related challenges.</li><li>
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate care with pelvic floor therapists, psychologists, and primary care providers to ensure a holistic approach.</li></ul>
Position Details
FTE: Flexible (0.5 to 1.0). We are open to candidates seeking part-time or full-time schedules. 
Required Education and Experience:
Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program OR graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.
One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.
Required Credentials:
For Nurse Practitioners:
Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington.
Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner
For Physician Assistants:
Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington
Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
For All Providers:
Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals is required at time of hire and to be maintained continuously throughout employment. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will also be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Professionals.
Some clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous maintenance of certification.

Program Overview

The Advanced Care Partner Program creates a team-care structure to collaborate with PCPs who are managing complex patient panels.

The ACP &quot;care team&quot; model pairs a highly clinically experienced provider (ACP) with a PCP to collaborate closely by sharing the care and continuity management of the patient panel. The PCP's task queue provides the focus of this collaborative platform whereby the Advanced Care Partner devotes their work to keeping all categories within SLAs, provides real time responses to patient messages, follows up with chronic care monitoring and management, and intimately understands the patient panel &quot;as their own&quot;, such that complex patients are known well, medical issues are managed efficiently, highest quality conversations engage patients' trust, and continuity of care between the patient and two providers is seamless and exemplary. Further, the ACP care-team model promotes career-sustainability, mitigates the potential for decision fatigue, prevents practice isolation, and addresses burn-out risk factors. The program prioritizes well-being and belonging for both patients and PCPs.

Advanced Care Partner Role:

The Advanced Care Partner is a full-time, remote clinician who works business hours live online with a team of PCP peers, a clinical supervisor, and the Clinical Case Management team of Care Navigators and nurses, as needed, for highly complex cases. The ACP will partner with approximately 5 PCPs and their patient panels, owning these shared panels with longitudinal accountability over time.

The ACP is responsible for maintaining task category SLAs, including but not limited to:
<ul>
<li>Answering clinical questions from patients and engaging in clinical dialogue to complete these conversations.</li>
<li>Clinical decision-making resulting from information coming from messages, lab results, and consults.</li>
<li>Owning medication changes, titrations, and adjustments for chronic conditions as needed.</li>
<li>Providing video visits and phone follow-up care as needed.</li>
<li>Completing clinical paperwork such as disability, FMLA, home health sign-offs.</li>
<li>Attention to closing patient care gaps, creating orders and follow up as needed</li>
<li>Processing Consults and providing related follow up management/care as needed.</li>
<li>Referrals to and collaboration with Clinical Case Management.</li>
<li>Providing urgent visit patient scheduling as needed.</li>
<li>Providing continuity of care longitudinally.</li>
<li>Participating as an active member of the care team including real-time Slack room responses, attending huddles, presenting cases, providing support to CCM team members.</li>

UW Medicine is seeking a Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO) to provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership at the intersection of patient care, technology, and innovation. The CHIO will serve as the executive leader for clinical informatics, ensuring that systems&mdash;particularly Epic&mdash;optimize clinical workflows, improve patient outcomes, support research and education, and advance UW Medicine&rsquo;s mission of clinical excellence, discovery, and equity.

The CHIO will be a practicing physician who is deeply relationship-oriented, trusted by frontline clinicians, and skilled at translating clinical needs into effective digital solutions. This role will champion continuous optimization, data-driven care and decision making, and responsible adoption of emerging technologies, including AI and advanced analytics, while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, clinician well-being, and regulatory compliance.

Clinical Informatics &amp; System Optimization
<ul>
<li>Provide executive informatics leadership for the ongoing optimization and evolution of Epic and other clinical systems.</li>
<li>Ensure technology enhances clinical efficiency, quality, safety, and patient and clinician experience across inpatient, ambulatory, and specialty care settings in alignment with UW Medicine strategic priorities.</li>
<li>Lead governance structures for clinical content, decision support, order sets, documentation standards, and workflow design in partnership with clinical operational leaders.</li>
<li>Educate the user community on the capabilities of the platforms already in use and help users maximize the usability and value of existing systems.</li>
<li>Partner with clinical leaders to reduce documentation burden and burnout while maintaining regulatory and quality requirements.</li>
<li>Ensure IT training is delivered efficiently, and curriculum and methodologies continuously adapt to meet the needs of a broad audience of learners in alignment with UW Medicine learning principles and in partnership with enterprise learning leaders.</li>
</ul>
AI, Innovation, and Emerging Technologies
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with the Innovation Core group, other academic and research partners, and vendors to explore innovative solutions and translate innovation into clinical practice.</li>
<li>Advocate for and guide the responsible adoption of AI, machine learning, and automation in clinical care, operations, and research.</li>
<li>Evaluate, pilot, and scale AI-enabled tools that have been strategically prioritized by the organization (e.g., ambient documentation, predictive analytics, clinical decision support, population health tools).</li>
<li>Ensure AI initiatives align with key strategic priorities, policies, ethical principles, equity goals, patient safety, and regulatory requirements.</li>
</ul>
Engagement &amp; Relationship Building
<ul>
<li>Establish and maintain a visible presence across clinical sites and serve as a trusted liaison between clinicians, clinical operational leaders, IT, and executive leadership.</li>
<li>Actively engage frontline practitioners to understand pain points, solicit feedback, and co-design and champion solutions.</li>
<li>Represent clinician perspectives in enterprise technology decisions and prioritization.</li>

Data, Quality, and Safety
<ul>
<li>Partner with quality, safety, and population health leaders to leverage validated clinical data for outcomes improvement, equity, and value-based care.</li>
<li>Support the development and use of clinical dashboards, registries, and analytics tools.</li>
<li>Ensure informatics solutions support accreditation, regulatory compliance, and quality reporting.</li>
</ul>
Leadership &amp; Strategy
<ul>
<li>Develop and own the clinical informatics strategy and contribute to UW Medicine&rsquo;s IT and digital health strategies and approach.</li>
<li>Develop close relationships and collaborate with the Chief Medical Officers, Chief Nursing Officers, clinical leaders, operational executives, other leaders involved in innovation initiatives, Chief Information Officer, and peers within IT Services.</li>
<li>Participate in the development and evolution of an enterprise-wide strategy and vision in the area of AI and innovation.</li>
<li>Mentor, develop, lead and delegate goals and tasks to the physician and nursing informaticist leaders and teams.</li>
<li>Understand the market and be involved and a thought leader in national vendor, informatics, and academic forums, representing UW Medicine externally.</li>
</ul>
Clinical Practice
<ul>
<li>Maintain an active clinical practice (typically 10&ndash;20% FTE) within UW Medicine to remain grounded in frontline care and workflows.</li>
<li>Use clinical experience to inform system design and prioritization.</li>
<li>Clinical practice should provide firsthand insight into system usability and clinician needs.
</li></ul>Reporting Relationships
<ul>
<li>Position reports with a solid line to the CIO and a dotted line to the enterprise CMO.
</li><li>Three (3) Associate CHIO positions report directly to the CHIO covering the areas of inpatient, ambulatory, and nursing informatics.
</li><li>There are 8 partially funded Assistant CHIO positions, from 0.10 to 0.20 FTE, spread across key clinical departments.</li>
<li>Additionally, there are approximately 35 Informaticists and 32 Training/User Adoption staff.</li>
</ul>
Faculty Appointment

The CHIO position is a full-time position that will have a faculty appointment in one of the UWSOM departments appropriate for background and experience. This position is not eligible for tenure. This position will also have a small portion of time dedicated to clinical effort. This is a 12-month service period position (July &ndash; June) with an anticipated start date in Fall 2026. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

The base salary range for this position will be $21,667 to 41,667 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include administrative salary supplement and allowances.

Qualifications</h4>

Required Qualifcations

<li>MD or DO with board certification in a clinical specialty.</li>
<li>Eligible for or holding Washington State medical licensure.</li>
<li>Extensive experience in leading clinical informatics teams within a complex health system.</li>
<li>Deep working knowledge of Epic EHR, including optimization, governance, and clinical workflows.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to lead change, build consensus, and influence without authority.</li>
<li>Strong communication skills with clinicians, executives, and technical teams.</li>

<li>Formal training in informatics (e.g., Clinical Informatics board certification, master&rsquo;s degree, or fellowship).</li>
