<b>DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</b><br>
The purpose of HOU Airport Security is to maintain a safe and secure environment for the traveling public and employees at HOU. This group ensures the airport maintains compliance with the TSA-approved Airport Security Plan, as well as TSA-mandated rules and regulations. We act as Subject Matter Experts during security emergencies and assist with the planning, training, and carrying out of mitigation efforts to reduce the threat level to HOU and enhance the overall airport security posture.<br>
<br>
The purpose of this position is to ensure all TSA regulatory requirements are met on each assigned shift. The Airport Operations Coordinator responds to TSA inquiries and interacts with<b> </b>TSA investigators, airline supervisors, and Houston Police Department (HPD) Officers and Supervisors. The position will be part of the unified command group during airport emergencies and reports to the Airport Operations Supervisor - Security.</p><p><b><i>
&ldquo;Candidates must be able to obtain all security required badge access including Custom Border Patrol access within 6 months from the hire date.&quot;</i></b></p><b>
The Airport Operations Coordinator duties, but are not limited to:</b><br>
<ul><li>
Monitoring the operational and security activities in operational areas to ensure a safe environment and ensures compliance with Federal, state, local and department regulations, policies, and procedures activities.</li><li>
Coordinating with airport staff and other airport agencies on corrective actions to maintain compliance.</li><li>
Coordinates emergency response with other agencies to ensure the safety of life and property.</li><li>
Conducting communications with airline, tenant and airport personnel and resolves problems between airport customers and tenants.</li><li>
Acting as field security liaison during emergencies. Commanding operational activities and maintaining order during aeronautical-related emergencies, following the Airport Security Plan and Emergency Plan and other airport rules and regulations.</li><li>
Participating in tabletop or field exercises and tests of response resources.</li><li>
Resolving security related issues from airport customers and tenants. Meeting with airport tenants to explain airport security policies and procedures.</li><li>
Observing and reports tenant and airline security activities to ensure compliance with regulations, contracts, standards, and policies/procedures. Identifying violations and ensures penalties are carried out.</li><li>
Leading, assigns tasks and trains lower-level security, communications, and operational personnel. Coordinating work with the identification badging unit.</li><li>
Keeping abreast of existing and new legislation and ensures compliance to federal, state, and local requirements. Advises airport management on needed action.</li><li>
Contributing to the team effort by performing related duties as needed.</li></ul><br>
<b>
WORKING CONDITIONS</b><br>
The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters or records boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis. There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate of heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions. Requires the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements within fairly fine tolerance and/or calibration demands; or the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within moderate tolerance demands.</div><p></p>

<div><p><b>EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS</b><br>
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Airway Science, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field.<br>

<b>EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS</b><br>
Two years of progressively responsible experience in airport operations, airport security or airport safety are required.<br>
<br>
<b>Directly related professional experience may substitute for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis.</b><br>
<br>
<b>LICENSE REQUIREMENTS</b><br>
Requires a VALID Driver's License and compliance with city's policy on driving (AP 2-2).</p></div>
