We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Operations Manager to lead and coordinate daily operations within our steel fabrication facility. POSITION PURPOSE:This role accelerates business value by assisting the Plant Manager (PM) in providing leadership and management to plant operations including providing management oversight for the day-to-day operations and proper functioning of a plant to include Manufacturing, Distribution, Engineering, Maintenance, Sales, Environmental Health and Safety and Purchasing. Demonstrates our &ldquo;True North&rdquo; attributes: voice of the customer, respect for the individual, no nonsense communication and utilization of facts, servant leadership and has a continuous improvement mindset in every facet of leadership and daily interaction. Leads, collaborates, and demonstrates the lean principles and utilizes the lean methodologies and tools to facilitate continuous process improvements and value creation for our customers, employees and shareholders. Actively utilizes lean tools (VSM, Kaizen, A3, etc.) to inform and assess business opportunities to drive continuous improvement. Lead and participate in Kaizen and value stream mapping activities.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The APM may be called upon to support the PM in the following ways:<ul><li>Participates in financial analysis and planning and tracks P&amp;L metrics.</li><li>Promotes a performance- driven and continuous-improvement environment for manufacturing operations; fostering innovation and creativity within the plant.</li><li>Proactively seeks ways to improve KPJ's particularly decreasing CPU (cost per unit) and maintaining quality, efficiency and customer service.</li><li>Evaluates manufacturing, production and logistics processes for improved efficiencies at assigned plant.</li><li>Works with the Market Manager to provide insights on process improvement opportunities for safety, quality, delivery, production and cost reduction; gains approval, develops plans and leads the implementation.</li><li>Manages all manufacturing and logistics related activities for assigned plant.</li><li>Oversees production to ensure fulfillment of all customer orders.</li><li>Ensures on-schedule and on-budget delivery.</li><li>Assesses plant performance against operating plans and standards ensuring plant performance meets area goals and exceeds customer requirements.</li><li>Maintain s the plant's PSM\RMP and HACCP programs.</li><li>Maintains Preventive Maintenance program and makes updates as needed.</li><li>Acts as Incident commander/responder in the event of Hazmat leak or spill.</li><li>Emphasizes safety programs and initiatives and assures the highest standard of safety throughout the plant and distribution centers.</li><li>Tracks and monitors safety metrics and communicates these metrics to plant staff.</li><li>Investigates and reviews accidents and injuries with follow up as necessary ensuring timely and accurate documentation is completed.</li><li>Manages staffing requirements for increased labor efficiencies to meet plant objectives.</li><li>Establishes standards of performance including timely and accurate use of the performance management process to evaluate and communicate effectiveness and suggestions for development opportunities.</li><li>Conducts staff meetings to communicate key information and ensures messages are cascaded down into the organization.</li><li>Supervises, develops, and coaches supervisors at the plant.</li><li>Works with management team to support employees on their growth and development and motivates employees to contribute at their full potential.</li></ul>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:<ul><li>College degree preferred</li><li>Minimum three (3) years' experience in ice business or related food production industry with an understanding of seasonal demands.</li><li>4+ years of supervisory experience in a large manufacturing environment.</li><li>Quick change environment experience preferred.</li><li>Ability to work in a 24/7 environment.</li><li>Knowledge of manufacturing and distribution capabilities, process improvements, root cause analysis, and computer skills .</li><li>Project management or technical leadership experience preferred.</li><li>Results oriented with a high level of organization and time management skills.</li><li>Ability to develop and mentor resources.</li><li>Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.</li><li>A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required to use company vehicle at times</li></ul>ESSENTIAL MENTAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS<ul><li>Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.</li><li>Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner</li><li>Ability to work in an unfatigued state</li><li>Ability to accurately gauge lengths of time and distance</li><li>Ability to quickly store and recall instructions in one&rsquo;s short term memory</li><li>Ability to concentrate and perform tasks involving high levels of cognitive function and judgment</li><li>Ability to cope with sudden changes in surrounding and/or emergency situations and/or alarms</li><li>Demonstrate a caring, committed and concerned attitude about safety</li><li>Possess fast reflexes and unimpaired coordination and ability to rapidly respond to stimuli</li><li>Not mentally or physically impaired from any cause that can adversely affect ability to safely and competently perform required functions</li><li>Ability to take prompt and appropriate response to operating conditions</li></ul>OPERATING RESPONSILITIES:Excellent decision making abilities and judgment are required . Must be able to respond to non&shy; routine situations with promptness and use of good judgment.
