The Airport Operations Specialist ensures operational excellence throughout the Airport Badging business unit of Bush Intercontinental Airport by providing friendly customer service while conducting badging operations to include background checks, manage data in spreadsheets and carry out clerical duties, including answering phones and preparing documents. The purpose of the Security group at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), one of three airports that make up the Houston Airport System (HAS), is to use intelligence-led, risk-based operations to enhance airport security, reduce fear, and provide a safe environment to the traveling public. Airport Security staff-members ensure compliance with Federal regulations as well as HAS Operating Instructions. The Airport Operations Specialist provides guidance to team members and customers to help facilitate the badging process required for obtaining their security clearance. The Airport Operations Specialist will facilitate the formation of company profiles for access control and billing functions and are responsible for providing all required training associated with the IAH Airport Badging Office. <b><i>Candidates must be able to obtain all security required badge access including Custom Border Patrol access within 6 months from the hire date.&quot;</i></b></p><p><b><br>
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:</b></p><ul><li>Inspects airfields and airport terminal areas and the perimeter to ensure a safe and secure environment. Prepares inspection reports. Reports unsafe conditions and policy/procedure violations and initiates enforcement actions.</li><li>Maintains constant surveillance and radio contact with the Control Tower. Identifies and anticipates operational, safety and security concerns and initiates corrective action.</li><li>Meets and communicates with airline, tenant and airport personnel and resolves problems with airport customers and tenants.</li><li>Observes and reports tenant and airline activities to ensure compliance with airport leases, contracts, standards and policies/procedures. Reports violations to supervisor.</li><li>Performs airfield safety activities, such as monitoring construction and maintenance work activities in operational areas, removing birds and animals from runways and notifying airline personnel and TSA of dangerous runway conditions.</li><li>Initiates NOTAMS as required by federal regulations and maintains operations log of airfield activities.</li><li>Performs and maintains reports on security activities. Communicates and implements the airport security incentive program.</li><li>Performs and reports traffic and curbside management duties. Enforces parking regulations and issues parking citations. Initiates vehicle tows.</li><li>Contributes to the team effort by performing related duties as needed</li></ul><b><br>
WORKING CONDITIONS</b><br>
The position is routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters or records boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking and standing on rough surfaces on a routine basis. There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate of heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions. Performing these duties also involve operating city vehicles; making visual observations and differentiating details; applying specialized information; attending to details amid distractions; dealing with people in tense situations; using two-way radios; reacting quickly with dexterity and coordination. Must be willing and available to work all shifts, including rotation, weekends and holidays.</div><p></p>

The purpose of HOU Airport Security is to maintain a safe and secure environment for the traveling public and employees at HOU. This group ensures the airport maintains compliance with the TSA-approved Airport Security Plan, as well as TSA-mandated rules and regulations. We act as Subject Matter Experts during security emergencies and assist with the planning, training, and carrying out of mitigation efforts to reduce the threat level to HOU and enhance the overall airport security posture.<br>

The purpose of this position is to ensure all TSA regulatory requirements are met on each assigned shift. The Airport Operations Coordinator responds to TSA inquiries and interacts with<b> </b>TSA investigators, airline supervisors, and Houston Police Department (HPD) Officers and Supervisors. The position will be part of the unified command group during airport emergencies and reports to the Airport Operations Supervisor - Security.</p><p><b><i>

Maintain and monitor the Boilers, Chillers, HVAC, Refrigeration, Ice Plant, and all other critical equipment within the United Airport Facilities.</li><li>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</b></p><ul><li>
High School diploma or equivalent required</li><li>
Valid City of Houston 1st or 2nd Grade Stationary Engineer License required</li><li>
Valid Driver&rsquo;s License required</li><li>
Ability to read blueprints and schematics</li><li>
Demonstrated strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills</li><li>
Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel</li><li>
Ability to be badged to work in secure areas of an airport</li><li>
Ability to work a Day or Night shift including weekends and holidays</li></ul><p></p><p><b>

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</b></p><p>
 While performing the duties of a Stationary Engineer, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces. Ladder work required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircrafts and the confined areas of baggage conveyor systems. Specific vision abilities required by this job include good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Good hand / eye coordination is required.</p><p></p><p><b>
WORK ENVIRONMENT:</b></p><p>
 The work environment is similar to airport operation with vehicular traffic. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircrafts and around heavy equipment.</p><p></p><p>
