Qualifications 
Basic Requirements:<ul><li>
Minimum 5 years of experience working as Photographer/Camera Operator in the field</li><li>
Minimum 2 years of experience as an Editor</li><li>
Proven experience managing and/or assisting live transmissions via bonded cellular (ex LiveU), satellite trucks or local microwave</li><li>
Prior experience and thorough understanding on how to send stories via file transfer (ex latakoo, media shuttle) and via bonded cellular technology</li><li>
Proven proficiency using Avid 6.0 Media composer and Mac operating system</li><li>
Proven proficiency using Sony HD series professional broadcast cameras including FX9 and FX3</li><li>
Proven experience and proficiency in managing on air lighting and shot composition</li><li>
Basic understanding of audio and on-air communication principles (ex In-ear, microphone placement, Etc.)</li><li>
Basic understanding of broadcast signal flow.</li><li>
Must be fully fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal)</li><li>
Proficient in Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Yammer, Stream, and Teams) and other related tools.</li><li>

About the Team

The Education team is based in New York and operates at the intersection of product, DevRel, and Marketing. The team creates tutorials, documentation, and learning resources that help developers integrate Viam into their workflows. This is a first-of-its-kind role at Viam - you&rsquo;ll be the only dedicated video production professional on the team, working closely with our VP of Education and collaborators across Education, DevRel, Marketing, and Engineering. No inherited toolchain, no prior workflow to maintain. You&rsquo;ll build it.

What You&rsquo;ll Own
<ul>
<li>End-to-end production for Viam&rsquo;s educational and marketing video content; from pre-production planning through final delivery, including tutorials, product demos, webinars, and event coverage.</li>
<li>Bring editorial judgment to every brief: shaping story structure, refining hooks, and making packaging decisions (titles, thumbnails, chapter breaks) that strengthen audience engagement and channel identity.</li>
<li>Camera operation and lighting setup for both studio and on-location shoots, capturing clean, professional footage across a range of formats.</li>
<li>Audio capture and post-production; recording setups and mixing that hold up whether you&rsquo;re in a controlled studio or on a conference floor.</li>
<li>Still photography for web, media, and corporate use; headshots, office life, product photography, and event coverage.</li>
<li>Long-form post-production editing in Final Cut Pro or equivalent, with an eye for pacing and clarity that serves a technical audience.</li>
<li>In addition to long-form educational video, supporting key video projects including reels, product demos, social videos, and customer storytelling, always rooted in substance for a technical audience.</li>
<li>Contribute to format development, recognizing what's working across Viam's channels and helping evolve recurring content formats over time.</li>

What You Bring
<ul>
<li>A storyteller's instinct alongside your production skills; you think about why a viewer keeps watching, not just whether the footage is clean.</li>
Demonstrated experience producing and editing long-form technical or educational video content <li>- courses, tutorials, product demos, or webinars. A strong portfolio is required.</li>
<li>Professional camera operation skills, comfortable with a range of camera systems and lighting setups in both studio and field conditions.</li>
<li>Professional still photography capabilities, including corporate headshots, event coverage, and web-ready imagery.</li>
<li>Audio engineering experience; you can capture and mix clean audio in environments you didn&rsquo;t control in advance.</li>
<li>Proficiency in Final Cut Pro or comparable NLE software. If you work in a different toolchain, you can make the case for why it&rsquo;s the right call.</li>
<li>Comfort working as the only production person in the room. You&rsquo;ve built or rebuilt a production function before, or you&rsquo;re ready to, and you don&rsquo;t need a playbook handed to you.</li>

How We Work

Viam is a hybrid team based in New York, and this role will be in-office at least 3 days/week. This role will collaborate closely with our VP of Education and a set of highly experienced content producers across Education, DevRel, Marketing, and Engineering. You&rsquo;ll contribute ideas, push back when something won&rsquo;t work, and ship real content.

Compensation

The salary for this role is between $110K - 150K/year. Your exact offer will vary based on factors including experience level, skillset, market location, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.
