Position Summary
The Kinder Institute for Urban Research is currently hiring an Associate Director of Demography to join its Houston Population Research Center (HPRC). The HPRC houses the Kinder Institute&rsquo;s demography and survey work, which includes the Greater Houston Community Panel , and the Kinder Houston Area Survey &ndash; the longest-running survey of any major metropolitan area in the nation. Individuals with experience and expertise in designing and programming surveys, cleaning and curating survey data, and developing and conducting survey research projects are encouraged to apply.
The Associate Director will collaborate with the Center Director to lead and work alongside a team of researchers in conducting rigorous, relevant, and innovative research that benefits the Houston area and its residents. To that end, the Associate Director must be comfortable and competent in collaborating with community partners, including nonprofit organizations, government entities, and other local leaders, as well as with residents living in and around the Houston area (and beyond).
The Associate Director will help identify and apply for grant funding opportunities and work toward producing research that is widely accessible, impactful, and used to improve lives. The Associate Director will also help elevate the HPRC&rsquo;s work through professional conferences and academic, peer-reviewed publications. The Associate Director must be a strong communicator and able to reach a wide array of audiences. The role also includes supervising other researchers on the team.
The Kinder Institute for Urban Research aims to improve lives through data, research, engagement, and action. The institute is currently working to build out five research centers focused on critical aspects shaping the social and cultural landscape of the Houston area. The five centers will research housing , education , community and public health , economic mobility and inequality , and population dynamics . Each center will investigate its topic area and will work across centers.
To achieve this, each center is building interdisciplinary teams specializing in solutions-oriented research using a partnership model. This model works to jointly design, develop, and conduct research that values diversity in expertise and prioritizes the community in identifying and addressing the most pressing questions and challenges facing the Houston area. The goal is for the institute&rsquo;s research to inform decision-making and bring about systemic change.
The ideal candidate excels in demographic methods, advanced statistical analysis, research methodologies, and data management, with strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills to deliver impactful research.
Workplace Requirements
This position is on-site in the Houston area and may be a hybrid role, combining in-office and remote work to provide flexibility and support collaboration. Per Rice policy 440 , work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a salary range of $100,000 to $110,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.

Position Summary:
 
The Kinder Institute for Urban Research and the School of Social Sciences are hiring a Manager, Community Research and Evaluation Help Desk position to serve as an embedded liaison at the United Way of Greater Houston to stand up a first-of-its-kind community Help Desk that aims to triage data and evaluation questions and services for Houston-area nonprofits in coordination with the United Way of Greater Houston&rsquo;s Coffee and Quality programming. This staff member will be a colleague to their United Way Quality Coach counterpart at the Help Desk. The Manager will also provide regular communication to the Houston evaluation network with updates and progress on Help Desk activities and summarize short-form, peer-reviewed articles that provide timely insight into policy implementation, analysis, and evaluation.
The Manager of Community Research and Evaluation Help Desk will work closely with the Director of the Houston Population Research Center at the Kinder Institute, the School of Social Sciences Assistant Dean for Student Programs, and the Assistant Vice President for Mission and Strategy at the United Way of Greater Houston to develop a menu of Help Desk offerings; a process to collect, sort, and triage incoming requests; and a decision tree that resolves and channels Help Desk requests to the appropriate audiences in a timely manner. The Manager needs to be thoughtful in developing an accessible user experience and adept at creating a workflow that accounts for the various key stakeholders and their respective areas of expertise.
The Manager of Community Research and Evaluation Help Desk will also offer a series of &ldquo;Open Office Hours&rdquo; in partnership with the United Way of Greater Houston&rsquo;s Coffee and Quality team to community nonprofits to provide Help Desk services in person. In years two and three, the Manager will help create a rotational program with Rice University Master of Social Policy Evaluation students to develop their skills and expertise in working with community nonprofits. This is a three-year, grant-funded position with no guarantee that the position will be funded after the grant ends. All efforts will be made to seek additional funding in order to provide continued support for this position beyond the initial three years.

This individual is the main point of contact for customer inquiries, analyzing and resolving issues regarding daily scheduling activities for natural gas and gas liquids on the various Kinder Morgan assets. These activities include nominations, confirmations, scheduling, allocations, and transportation logistics. This candidate should understand upstream and downstream departmental relations, as well as work closely with Operations and Commercial teams.
Essential duties and responsibilities:<ul><li>
Communicate with internal and external customers, operations, marketing, and pipeline personnel on daily and monthly scheduled activities.</li><li>

Research Associate II - Cancer Prevention and Control

<div>At Houston Methodist, the Research Coordinator position is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of research protocols as well as assessing and determining qualification of patients for research studies. This position ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants.

Under the direction of higher level staff, conducts screening and interviews to evaluate patient eligibility in study.

Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries, and requests for information and coordinate appropriate follow-up calls and/or appointments.
</li><li>Schedules research subject appointments for tests and procedures, such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and other studies specific for the research protocol.
</li><li>Compiles patient information, process, document and enter accurate information in Source Documents, Case Report Forms, Electronic Data Capture portals and Clinical Trial Management System following established procedures.

Maintains records for clinical study and regulatory documents.
</li><li>Under the direction of Research Nurse/Clinical Trial Manager/Physician, captures and reports Adverse Events (A/E) or Serious Adverse Events (SAE) to necessary regulatory authorities.
</li><li>Assists management with research records and regulatory maintenance.
