Under the auspices of the United Nations Secretary-General, the SDSN, in partnership with UNIDO, hosts the Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition (CEET): a global, high-level body of engineers and energy systems experts contributing to the UN Secretary-General&rsquo;s goal of building a coalition to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The CEET was launched in September 2021 and is co-chaired by Gerd M&uuml;ller, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and Professor Jeffrey Sachs, President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). Position Summary</b></p><p>
The SDSN is seeking a proactive, dynamic, and creative intern to assist the Climate and Energy (C&amp;E) team, including the Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition (CEET) with several social media and communications campaigns related to the global energy transition. Under the supervision of the CEET Project Manager, this position will help promote and disseminate C&amp;E outputs, support internal and external communications efforts, and enhance the visibility of the CEET through digital content creation, graphic design, editing materials, and event logistics and support.</p><p>
The Climate and Energy Communications Intern will have the opportunity to engage with a global network of leading engineers and energy systems experts, directly contributing to communications that advance UN priorities around the energy transition.</p><p></p><p><b><br>
Principal Responsibilities</b></p><p>
The Climate and Energy Communications Intern will primarily be responsible for supporting the following communications initiatives and campaigns:</p><ul><li>
Energy Insights Blog Series: Assist with the promotion and dissemination of blog content across CEET and SDSN platforms, including preparing graphic materials and coordinating publication timelines.</li><li>
CEET Member Spotlight Series: Support the creation and rollout of video spotlights, graphics, and other digital assets that highlight the expertise and work of CEET members.</li><li>
Promotion of CEET Outputs: Contribute to the distribution of CEET publications, issue briefs, and technical outputs through targeted digital campaigns and email outreach.</li><li>

Based in New York City, Mid-Level Giving Officer I qualifies, solicits, stewards, and cultivates, individuals, couples, and families who partner financially with Earthjustice. This position will manage a regional portfolio of 150-250 Mid-Level giving donors, called Justice Partners.</div><div>

Justice Partners, donors who give $1,000 - $35,000 annually to Earthjustice, are passionate and engaged supporters of Earthjustice&rsquo;s mission. This position will coordinate donor outreach by phone, video calls, and email to determine their interest in two-way engagement, inclination and capacity to make a major or planned gift, programmatic and philanthropic priorities, and manage their relationship with the organization. The Officer will be responsible for an eventual direct solicitation goal of $500,000 per year. Meeting this fundraising goal includes upgrades to major gifts. Some travel will be required to attend Justice Partners events, donor meetings, and other engagement opportunities, as well as professional and/or organizational meetings, trainings, and conferences.</div><div>

What You'll Do</b></h4><p>
Donor Qualification, Solicitation, and Stewardship (80%)</p><ul><li>
Manages a portfolio of 150-250 Mid-Level donors and prospects; develop strategies and implement plans for qualifying, cultivating, stewarding, and soliciting those donors. Responsible for meeting revenue, solicitation, visit, and outreach goals set forth in annual work plan each year with an ultimate annual fundraising goal of $500,000. Meeting this fundraising goal includes upgrades to major gifts.</li><li>
Identify planned giving opportunities and partner with planned giving officers to solicit and close bequest, asset, and life income gifts.</li><li>
Builds relationships with donors through virtual and in person visits and other engagement opportunities.</li></ul><p>
Analysis and Data Management (10%)</p><div><ul><li>
Tracks opportunities, plan notes, call notes and responses, contact attempts, communications preferences, and interests in donor database.</li><li>
Attends trainings and actively learns databases, systems, and other technology used by the Development department and Earthjustice to ensure effective collaboration, communication, and efficiency.</li><li>
Remains apprised of trends in philanthropy and Earthjustice&rsquo;s programmatic work.</li></ul><p>
Collaboration (10%)</p><div><ul><li>
Promotes team cohesion and a positive workplace culture by taking part in team, department, office, and organization wide meetings, trainings, skills sharing, and events</li><li>
Collaborates with Development Operations Team and Deputy Director, Outreach and Membership Services on donor data, data analysis, metrics, and portfolio recommendations</li><li>

5-7 years of direct experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or membership programs with a focus on engaging and soliciting donors making gifts in the 4-6 figure range</li><li>
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing fundraising initiatives including personalized cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation strategies</li><li>
Ability to manage both a robust portfolio and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment</li><li>
Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills that you leverage to build strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and all levels of staff</li><li>
Experience understanding, synthesizing, and communicating complex information in a clear and compelling manner</li><li>
