SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS<ul><li>
Provides care to patients visiting the clinic under the direct supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse, or clinic leadership procedures. In collaboration with the provider team, anticipates the needs of the specific patient population.
</li><li>Communicates with patient, obtains and documents vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), chief complaint(s), preforms medication(s) review, discusses/reviews medical and social history (as appropriate). Documents, in patient&rsquo;s electronic medical record (EMR), care administered, all diagnostic measurements, treatments and procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures.
</li><li>Follow-up with patient as appropriate to ensure compliance with recommendations, medications, lab/x-ray results, special visits, PCP visits, dieticians, diabetes educators, etc. Ensures patient utilization and activation of MyChart.
</li><li>Contributes towards improving department scores for patient satisfaction through peer-to-peer accountability.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS<ul><li>
Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Assists with maintaining equipment and supplies.
</li><li>Reports observations, conditions and problems of patients to the physician or nurse to achieve desired patient outcomes. Provides for the privacy of patients and families, keeping the safety of the patient in mind.
</li><li>Sterilizes instruments and equipment under the supervision of Sr. Medical Assistant or Registered Nurse.
</li><li>Contributes to identification of improvement activities, impacting quality and safety targets, through peer-to-peer accountability, reporting near misses, and collaborating with the interprofessional team.

The Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Division in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery is seeking a qualified Advanced Practice Provider to provide high quality critical care services under the direction of a physician at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center. The candidate will be expected to provide clinical excellence and scholarly enthusiasm. The provider will have direct patient care responsibilities. The selected candidate will be appointed as a faculty Instructor and be eligible for full faculty benefits. 
Primary responsibilities include management of patients in the surgical ICU or thoracic surgical ICU at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center overnight from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM. This will include a variety of general surgery, transplant, vascular, cardiothoracic and general thoracic patients.

Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations.</li><li>
Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.</li><li>

Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures.</li><li>
Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records.</li><li>
Provide follow-up health maintenance care to patients in accordance with protocols established with the supervising physician.</li><li>
Communicate with physicians, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patient care.</li><li>
