POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology and the Desktop Support Manager, the Technical Support Specialist will provide high-quality end-user support for the various constituents at the School of Visual Arts (SVA). User groups include Administrative and Academic Staff, Students, and Faculty. End-user devices include desktop computers, laptops, printers, and mobile phones. Users are located in 12 buildings on the Manhattan campus and at home.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul><li>Responsible for quality end-user support and proactive maintenance of administrative desktop hardware, software, and peripherals &ndash; this includes assets owned and managed by the college.</li><li>
Responsible for the updating and maintenance of the administrative desktop asset database, including data entry, tracking warranty and service contracts, and the registration of all hardware and software purchases.</li><li>
Assist with setting up, configuring, and deploying desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and other IT equipment.</li><li>
Perform routine maintenance tasks, including software updates, system backups, and antivirus management.</li><li>
Collaborate with other IT team members to escalate complex issues and follow up on resolution.</li><li>
Work with third-party vendor support groups as needed to resolve technical problems.</li><li>
Works with Active Directory and other service delivery systems.</li><li>
Document support activities, solutions, and procedures for future reference. 
Assist in the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures.</li><li>
Responsible for helping students set up their computers for Internet access in the residence halls.</li><li>
Assists with minor and major office moves, adds, changes, and acts as liaison between the IT Department and other offices.</li><li>
Trains and orients employees on the use of hardware, software, and telephone systems.</li><li>
Takes on a support leadership role for assigned point web applications and enterprise systems as they are deployed to the college.</li><li>
SVA is a broad constituency of community members (end users) all of whom the IT team interacts with daily. This includes administrative office staff, academic office staff, faculty, students, alumni, and the public.</li><li>
Collaboration is the key to success. For SVA IT, key collaborative operations groups include Audio Visual Services, Facilities (Physical Plant), Security Services (Campus Safety), and Resource Management (Office Services).</li><li>
Students, Staff, and Faculty in a Higher Education environment are not on a fixed 9 am-5 pm schedule, waiting for support like a typical office. The technician should be comfortable following up with end users to agree on a mutually convenient time to troubleshoot the issue.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul><li>Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or a closely related field is required.</li><li>
Candidates without a degree may substitute at least four (4) years of professional experience in the Information Technology field or equivalent technical training.</li></ul>
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Position Summary:
PAL is seeking an IT Support Technician to support the day-to-day upkeep of computer systems, hardware, and IT infrastructure. The Police Athletic League (PAL) of New York City is an independent youth development nonprofit organization and has been a vibrant and vital institution, serving as an effective, critical bridge between police and communities across all five boroughs of the City since 1914. Position Summary:
PAL is seeking an IT Support Engineer to support the day-to-day upkeep of computer systems and infrastructure. He or she will be responsible for a on-site support across all PAL&rsquo;s NYC 17 locations for networked PCs, laptops, VOIP phones, PAL issues mobile phones, printers, PAL&rsquo;s Microsoft Active Directory domain and hosted in Azure and locally, and troubleshooting various network devices including switches and routers. Additionally, PAL relies heavily on the Office 365 Suite online tools, to support both on-site and hybrid work for all staff. The IT support Engineer will work closely with the Operations team, PAL&rsquo;s IT Business Partner providing enterprise managing IT services.
The IT Support Engineer will report to the Director of Operations.
What you&rsquo;ll do:
Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
<ul><li>Install, configure and troubleshoot desktop and laptop hardware, peripherals, operating system and firm business software.
</li><li>Serve as the primary contact to support internal company, end users, and IT operations
</li><li>Troubleshoot, analyze, resolve, and accurately documents various technical problems and resolutions (i.e. software, hardware and company specific applications)
</li></ul>IT Administration and Maintenance:
<ul><li>Responsible for hardware and software inventory management and administration
</li><li>Administration of Microsoft Exchange 365 and Active Directory
</li><li>Assist with IT projects including new IT system implementations and upgrades
</li><li>Apply analytical skills in order to solve complex technical problems and recommend alternatives
</li><li>Support day to day administrative operations such as account management, application monitoring, and staff scheduling needed to maintain systems.
</li><li>Coordinate with HR to support IT onboarding and off-boarding tasks for new employees including AD account management and IT equipment set up / provisioning
</li><li>Troubleshoot and coordinate issues with PAL&rsquo;s Internet Service Provider Vendors and other IT vendors.
</li></ul>IT Project Management and Customer Service:
<ul><li>Provide the highest level of technical support to employees locally and remotely
</li><li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with company staff, vendors, and IT business partners using strong customer service skills
</li><li>Respond promptly and clear to any tickets submitted in PAL&rsquo;s IT ticketing system and keep the ticketing information up to date.
</li><li>Work closely with PAL management team &amp; PAL&rsquo;s IT Business Partner to assure seamless communication between computers and network-based systems and peripherals.
</li><li>Continuously document IT operations process to assist with maintaining knowledge base
</li><li>Performs other IT related duties as required
</li></ul>Who you are/What you bring:
<ul><li>High school degree required; further education or certifications in IT, or related fields preferred
</li><li>Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft O365, Windows 10, Active Directory, Azure AD and Group Policy Office System Center Endpoint Protection, VPN
</li><li>Microsoft Certified Professional certification or other industry Certification preferred
</li><li>Basic network technology knowledge (LAN/WAN and wireless)
</li><li>Hardware experience must include desktops, laptops, Smartphones, VoIP phones, printers and scanners
</li><li>Ability to juggle multiple priorities, change &amp; adapt to organizational needs as they develop
</li><li>Effectively communicate complex technical issues both orally and in writing
</li><li>Experience in software/hardware configuration and deployment, and systems administration
</li><li>Monitoring server usage, internet service outages and IT support ticking queue
</li><li>Solid technical &amp; troubleshooting skills
</li><li>Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn quickly
</li><li>Must thrive in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
</li><li>Ability to lift and carry computer components up to 40 lbs. per item
</li><li>Ability to travel across NYC locations, Driver&rsquo;s license preferred
</li><li>Ability to quickly get up to speed and master new applications and software is critical
</li><li>Exceptional hardware and software problem-solving and analytical abilities
</li><li>Demonstrated proficiency with IT rollouts, migrations and upgrades are required
</li></ul>Compensation: The range for this role is $65,000 - $70,000 where the finalist falls in this range will be commensurate with skills and experience.
