<div><p>Senior Claim Experts are hands-on managers of individual higher exposure/complicated claims; expected to regularly conduct outside claim audits, market and client visits; initiate regular contact with underwriters, actuaries and accounting staff; and have the ability to review and analyse overall loss portfolios. A comfort level with technology is required as the digitalization of our departmental operations is a key part of our corporate strategy. While many meetings can be conducted remotely, the role will require business travel from time to time. The position reports to the Vice President Head of Claims - Americas.</p></div>
<br><div><ul><li><p>Oversee and manage a portfolio of Excess Casualty (General Liability, Umbrella, Wrap policies) insurance claims P&amp;C accounts which entails:

</p></li><li><p>E valuating, developing, reporting on and resolving complex and/or higher value claims and/or loss bordereaux.

The opportunity</b></p>

We currently have an opportunity for a Claim Representative Trainee to join our Surety Claims team based in our New York City, NY office on hybrid schedule. This accelerated program is designed to give the trainee a broad overview of Intact Specialty Solutions Surety Team. The program lasts 12 months with an opportunity of a promotion upon completion. This role starts on June 1st.</p>
<p>
Under close supervision as part of the formal training program, trainees will develop skills and knowledge to provide efficient and effective disposition of assigned claims through timely investigation, evaluation and resolution. Some of the Claim Representative Trainee responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p>
<ul>
<li>Makes timely and appropriate contacts and completes appropriate level of investigation to make determination of coverage, liability and damages for routine claims.</li>
<li>Determines exposure, establishes adequate initial reserves and makes timely adjustments within authority level, as required.</li>
<li>Within authority level, assigns and directs activities of internal and external resources as required; including independent adjusters and appraisers. Identifies questionable claims and consults with SIU for further direction as appropriate.</li>
<li>Under close supervision, may determine settlement value of the loss and negotiate proper settlement of claims within authority. Provides recommendations for settlement and disposition of claims exceeding authority level. May utilize liability tools.</li>
<li>Documents clearly and concisely all relevant activity on assigned files and makes recommendations for additional activity as appropriate.</li>
<li>As this is a developmental role, completes required learning programs and on the job training as needed. Depending on the case load and business, may be working toward getting state approved license or certificate.</li>
<li>Anticipates and meets all customer needs (internal and external).</li>
</ul>
<p><b>The expertise you bring</b></p>

<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree preferred, with some business or insurance background.</li>
<li>0 - 1 years of claims experience.</li>
<li>Must be able to obtain an adjuster license no later than October 1, 2026, with dedicated training and study time provided</li>

<p>The starting base salary for this position is $67,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include:</p>
