Position Summary:
PAL is seeking an IT Support Engineer to support the day-to-day upkeep of computer systems and infrastructure. He or she will be responsible for a on-site support across all PAL&rsquo;s NYC 17 locations for networked PCs, laptops, VOIP phones, PAL issues mobile phones, printers, PAL&rsquo;s Microsoft Active Directory domain and hosted in Azure and locally, and troubleshooting various network devices including switches and routers. Additionally, PAL relies heavily on the Office 365 Suite online tools, to support both on-site and hybrid work for all staff. The IT support Engineer will work closely with the Operations team, PAL&rsquo;s IT Business Partner providing enterprise managing IT services.
The IT Support Engineer will report to the Director of Operations.
What you&rsquo;ll do:
Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
<ul><li>Install, configure and troubleshoot desktop and laptop hardware, peripherals, operating system and firm business software.
</li><li>Serve as the primary contact to support internal company, end users, and IT operations
</li><li>Troubleshoot, analyze, resolve, and accurately documents various technical problems and resolutions (i.e. software, hardware and company specific applications)
</li></ul>IT Administration and Maintenance:
<ul><li>Responsible for hardware and software inventory management and administration

</li><li>Assist with IT projects including new IT system implementations and upgrades

<div>Overview
The Junior Network Systems &amp; Platform Engineer is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organizations IP network platforms and associated systems. This role assists in ensuring platform stability, supporting lifecycle management activities, and contributing to the accuracy of operational tools that maintain the organizations inventory and configuration source of truth. The position also participates in automation and modernization initiatives using AI assisted development and coding tools.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities<ul><li>
Support the monitoring, maintenance, and administration of IP network systems, platforms, and operational tools.</li><li>
Assist with software, firmware, and hardware upgrades across network and platform infrastructure.</li><li>
Contribute to maintaining high accuracy and low error rates within inventory and configuration source of truth systems.</li><li>
Perform routine system health checks, patching, configuration updates, and validation activities.</li><li>
Troubleshoot basic issues related to network platform performance, system behavior, or infrastructure components.</li><li>
Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, operational procedures, and system changes.</li><li>
Utilize AI assisted development and coding tools to support automation and workflow optimization.</li><li>
Collaborate with senior engineers to implement operational improvements and adhere to established best practices.</li></ul>
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience<ul><li>
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience or</li><li>
Associate's Degree with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience or</li><li>
High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience.</li></ul>
Preferred Education/Experience<ul><li>
Bachelor's Degree preferably in Information Technology or Engineering and a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience.</li><li>
Associate's Degree preferably in IT and a minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience.</li></ul>
Relevant Work Experience<ul><li>
Exposure to scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) or network automation frameworks, required.</li><li>
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and willingness to learn in a technical environment, required.</li><li>
Foundational understanding of IP networking concepts, including routing, switching, VLANs, and network protocols, preferred.</li><li>
Basic knowledge of network systems, servers, virtualization, and monitoring platforms, preferred.</li><li>
Demonstrated interest in automation, AI assisted development, and modern network engineering practices, preferred.</li></ul>

The Security Engineer is our first explicitly security-focused hire. In this role you will be an early member of the Platform Engineering organization and help us mature a critical part of Coast. We value speed and flexibility, but accept the need for high standards for compliance and security. Doing it well is critical for our ability to execute.

Working directly with an enthusiastic and invested product team, you will help us stay on top of a wide array of areas, from network security and least-privilege permissions in the cloud to rationalizing our SIEM and code scanning posture, from supply chain security to application security reviews for our product organization. At the end of the day, we want to establish &quot;paved paths&quot; that allow us to minimize friction while ensuring security of our software. The role will work closely with our Product Engineering, and the CTO; this role reports to the Head of Platform.

We are hiring in NYC and the tri-state area only. Our NYC office is located in the heart of Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood, benefiting from its vibrant creative energy. The whole company is in the office on average 4 days a week.

The Security Engineer will:
<ul>
<li>Hold a high bar for security standards and help us establish best practices;</li>
<li>Influence design and implementation of all aspects of our product, by acting as a sounding board and SME for our product managers and engineers;</li>
<li>Improve scanning to ensure that risks in our codebase and cloud environment are identified, assessed, and remediated in a timely manner;</li>
<li>Organize our permissioning system to ensure that the right people have appropriate access, and unnecessary people don't;</li>
<li>Help shape the engineering culture of the company by championing security practices;</li>
<li>Maintain comprehensive documentation of the security infrastructure, policies, and procedures;</li>
<li>Remain relentlessly pragmatic and balance the product velocity demand with the needs of a secure platform.</li>
</ul>
The Security Engineer must:
<ul>
<li>Have 5+ years experience working with first-class engineering teams with a proven track record of continually improving their employer's security posture;</li>
<li>Have experience working directly with product engineers to incrementally improve our practices;</li>
<li>Be proficient at automating tooling, whether it be using the shell or (preferably) a programming language such as Python;</li>
<li>Have experience with one of Terraform/CloudFormation/Pulumi/CDK since we treat our infrastructure as code;</li>
<li>Deep hands-on knowledge and experience developing in AWS, especially IAM and SIEM, but also networking;</li>
<li>Be able to figure stuff out - the modern security space is deep and complex, and there are many ways of solving the same problem. You need to be able to go off on your own, research and design a solution, implement technical spikes, and then deliver it with the team;</li>
<li>Have an owner mindset and continuously look for, notice, and implement improvements to our posture, because small continuous improvements matter;</li>
<li>Keep a finger on the pulse of the industry - latest risks, trends in CICD, networking, and vendor landscape.</li>
</ul>
Compensation

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of our total compensation package that also includes benefits, signing bonus, and equity. Pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including scope and qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Coast employees. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at Coast to fall healthily within the range based on these factors.
