Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, and working closely with the physician, act as a Medical Scribe and provide electronic medical record support services. Duties will include transcribing medical data quickly and accurately while patients are being examined, preparing electronic charts of upcoming new and established patients by entering referring and other treating Doctors(s) contact information, and all medical information relevant to the office visit, including patient history, symptoms and complaints.
The Scribe will provide support to various Head &amp; Neck Clinic locations including Westwood, Santa Monica, Thousand Oaks, Downtown LA, and others.
The incumbent will also provide feedback about any data entry errors and reviewing records using accurate spelling, correct grammar, and completeness before they are sent to the Doctor for review and signing. The medical scribe will be responsible for keeping the physician moving in the office during clinic hours. The scribe will need to be familiar with most current electronic medical record system in the clinic, and be available for training when required. The scribe will complete all return to work and return to school forms.<ul><li>May be subject to testing</li></ul>
This is a Per Diem position and it may convert to career.
Salary Range: $25.66 hourly

POSITION SUMMARY 
The Medical Assistant &ndash; Float assists physicians with patient related procedures, patient history and is responsible for maintaining a smooth patient flow, and functions as liaison between the physicians, patients, and medical office staff. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>
Assists ambulatory clinics by floating to designated site(s) based upon current staffing need and or shortages; flexible with short notice regarding scheduled work site for day/week.</li><li>
Assists providers in performing office procedures and duties related to patient care as requested adhering to documentation standards based on Office Protocols.</li><li>
Consistently assesses the patient flow by identifying those areas or problems that are causing interruptions and resolves them or brings to the attention of Practice Manager</li><li>
Performs basic Medical Assistant functions based on assigned office such as Injections, Immunization, Pulmonary function testing, Snellen, Hearing exams and Electrocardiograms.</li><li>
Acquires thorough patient histories and documents preventative care, assists with medication reconciliation and transcribes family history and any forms based on office protocol.</li><li>
Reviews each patient orders for completeness and cancels any order not done prior to patient check out. Consistently rectifies inaccuracies and calls them to the Practice Manager attention.</li><li>
Reviews each referral and laboratory requisition for correct patient, accurate tests and diagnosis and the correct laboratory.</li><li>
Obtains waivers and consents and documents thoroughly what procedures were performed and instruction given to patient using electronic medical record or following guidelines in Office Protocol.</li><li>
Appropriately prepares examination rooms immediately after patient&rsquo;s visits. Maintains rooms stocked with supplies and are disinfected on daily based on Office Protocol.</li><li>
Assures the patient is checked out and has been provided the Patient Summary Plan. Reviews the Patient Summary Plan to assure the patient clearly understands all instructions based on direction from providers.</li><li>
Exhibits tact, courtesy, respect, cooperation and support in every aspect of their job when with patients, staff and providers always adhering to</li><li>
Perform duties with speed and accuracy while observing the guidelines set forth by OSHA, HIPPA, DHS, CLIA, EPA and specific contracts.</li><li>

Per Diem Base Rate:
$61.75 - $85.75

What You&rsquo;ll Do<ul><li>
Provide exceptional treatment, collaborative care options (within the scope of urgent care), including physical examinations, assessments, diagnosis and treatment</li><li>
Order and interpret x-rays, lab results and EKGs</li><li>
Triage and manage patients thoroughly and efficiently, maintaining a steady flow to avoid long wait times</li><li>
Perform digital blocks and regional anesthesia; start IV fluids and perform minor surgical procedures, such as wound closure and management, foreign body removal, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, closed reductions of simple fractures or dislocations of fingers/toes</li><li>
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as aspirations and injection of joints, bursas, and cysts. Start IV fluids</li><li>
Perform closed reductions of simple fractures or dislocations of fingers/toes, including nursemaid&rsquo;s elbow reductions</li><li>
Apply and modify braces, splints, and other orthopedic appliances</li><li>
Review and manage daily tasks, patient callbacks, and lab results, while on shift</li></ul> 
About You<ul><li>
Medical/Master&rsquo;s degree and certification</li><li>
PA - Valid state license to practice as a Physician Assistant and current national certification</li></ul>
 - OR -<ul><li>
RN - Valid state license to practice as a Registered Nurse, NP - Valid state license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner and current national certification</li><li>
Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of state</li><li>
Maintain a controlled substance license along with an unrestricted DEA license</li><li>
Ability to consult and treat patients of all ages</li><li>
Experience in ER, urgent care or similar setting (minimum 2 years)</li><li>
Ability to work two full weekends per month (required for full-time clinicians)</li><li>
Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times</li><li>
Availability to work in other clinic locations and some holidays as needed (preferred)</li></ul>
