The West Houston Diagnostic Laboratory Center provides patient care service for over 950 patients each week. 
 
The ideal candidate is a skilled, patient-focused phlebotomist with proven experience in venipuncture and specimen collection who thrives in a fast-paced lab environment. The willingness to travel to another HAL location on rare occasions. This position builds upon the foundational responsibilities of the Clinical Trial Technician by taking on advanced responsibilities in clinical trial operations. This role involves specimen collection, processing, and quality assurance while also supporting the training of new employees, ensuring proper shipment procedures, and maintaining equipment and inventory.  The QC Technician I prepares and tests samples from blood components to determine if the products meet established quality control standards.  Essential Responsibilities
 
 
 
 
 Sample Preparation and Testing: 70%
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Prepare platelet samples for qualification determination.
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform bacterial contamination testing on platelet products.
 </li>
 <li>
 Accurately enter and document test results in laboratory computer systems.
 </li>
 <li>
 Collect and prepare red blood cell products for quality control testing.
 </li>
 <li>
 Conduct CLIA moderate complexity proficiency testing in compliance with regulatory standards.
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Laboratory Support: 30%
 
 
 
 <ul>

 Perform routine instrument maintenance, including daily quality control checks, scheduled maintenance, and troubleshooting.
 </li>
 <li>
 Monitor laboratory inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist with laboratory projects and validation activities.
 </li>
 <li>
 Support the review, revision, and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
