 Job Description
 
 
 
 
 This position is based in the Philippines and will support the stand-up and operation of a contracted Role 2 Medical Treatment Facility located in Lal-Lo. The assignment is scheduled from April 18 through June 19, 2026, and will provide expeditionary medical support to U.S. military personnel and other authorized beneficiaries operating in the region.
 
 
 
 
 Please note that this is a temporary contract position and is not based in the United States. Candidates must be willing and able to travel internationally and work in an overseas operational environment for the duration of the contract.
 
 
 
 The Laboratory Technician evaluates specimens, performs routine and complex analytical testing, ensures assay quality control, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment, manages laboratory inventory, and keeps detailed records of all test results. In a remote, resource-limited, and high-stress setting, the role establishes, operates, and maintains reliable diagnostic capability with minimal supervision to support immediate clinical and public health decisions for authorized beneficiaries.

The Research Assistant I supports the Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology department at MD Anderson Cancer Center by contributing to laboratory-based and translational research efforts focused on cancers of the gastrointestinal system. The Research Assistant I assists with informatics- and statistics-associated research projects and provides hands-on technical support in laboratory settings under the direct supervision of a principal investigator. The ideal candidate for the Research Assistant I role has foundational laboratory research experience, hands-on exposure to processing blood and tissue specimens, in vitro cell culture, and basic molecular or cell biology assays, along with the ability to follow protocols, maintain accurate records, work with animal models, and contribute effectively to team-based research under direct supervision.

Responsibilities 
Laboratory Research Support 
<ul><li>Perform laboratory procedures leading to diagnosis or data assimilation with minimal supervision</li><li>Process blood and other fluid or tissue specimens according to established protocols</li><li>Conduct in vitro cell culture and assist with molecular biology assays such as Western blotting, RNA and DNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, and qRT-PCR</li><li>Perform cell biology assays including ELISA, cell proliferation or cell death assays, fluorescence cytometry, and clonogenic assays</li></ul>

Position Summary:
Provides routine, entry-level technical assistance in carrying out assigned duties of research projects.
Position Key Accountabilities:<ul><li>
Conducts various routine tests in a clinical and/or diagnostic laboratory setting involved in research.</li><li>
Collects research and clinical data in accordance with requested method.</li><li>
Prepares lab solutions for simple and more complex biochemical experiments and clinical tests. Performs tests using autoclave machine, pipet washer, centrifuge, microscope, and ultraviolent light microscope with fluorescent detachments.</li><li>
Performs autoclaving and disposal of biohazardous materials.</li><li>
Collects and duplicates reference material.</li><li>
