Position Description:
The Sherman Fairchild Reading Room seeks an intern that will be an active member of the
Reading Room team. The successful candidate will experience invigilating rare material, conduct
preliminary research for readers and retrieve material from our Reference Collection. They will
be supervised and mentored by the Head of Reader Services. Intern tasks will include but are not
limited to sorting, paging, and reshelving reference books and other secondary source materials,
including microfilms and internal files, as well as inputting and updating electronic records. The
intern will also work on other library projects and miscellaneous office tasks related to statistical
gathering and processing. The intern will work primarily in the Sherman Fairchild Reading
Room. Candidates must be committed to working 28 hours per week.

The Collection Information Department is looking for an intern interested in developing data skills by contributing to an ongoing project of inventorying and listing a large print collection. Working with items in hand, tasks include matching descriptive records to items in the collection, creating records in CORSAIR, the Morgan's collections database, and generating thumbnails for each print. The intern will learn about the data structure of the Morgan's collection descriptions, and, depending on skills, will be invited to contribute to designing user-friendly access to this large collection. Working under the supervision of the Director of Collection Information and instructed by members of the Department, the intern will participate in the day-to-day activities of collection information specialists and in the larger institutional life of the Morgan. The intern is also expected to contribute to any and all data projects that become a priority for the Department during the period of the internship.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in Imaging and Rights. The department
provides access to the Morgan&rsquo;s rare collections via digital surrogates and clears rights and permissions
for various uses. The successful candidate will assist with an inventory of analogue image assets and
paper files, in addition to assisting with preparing images for use in Morgan publications and exhibition-
related projects such as press and publicity, audio guides, and Morgan Shop uses, organizing images and
tracking spreadsheets, assisting with print color proofing, and maintaining image and copyright credits.
The intern will also update descriptive metadata in image files and will ingest these prepared image files
into the Morgan digital asset management system (DAM). This requires accessing databases,
embedding metadata into image files, and, after DAM ingest, reviewing, revising, and correcting data
when necessary.

<div><div>The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world&rsquo;s preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret, and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education, and exhibition. 
 
The Manager, Foundation Relations is responsible for the operational and administrative infrastructure that enables the Foundation Relations team&rsquo;s fundraising success. This position plays a central role in prospect research, grants administration, data management, and stewardship coordination, ensuring smooth workflows and accurate tracking of all foundation activities. In addition to maintaining a small portfolio of funders, the Manager supports proposal and report development by conducting research; gathering programmatic and financial information from Museum colleagues; and drafting proposals, correspondence, and other materials. A key function is maintaining the team&rsquo;s systems and processes&mdash;including the grants calendar, prospect database, and documentation library&mdash;to support strategic decision-making by the Director and Associate Director. <li>Draft letters of inquiry, proposals, acknowledgment letters, and routine funder correspondence for review by the Director.</li>
<li>Compile budget information and coordinate with Advancement Services and Finance to prepare accurate financial data for proposals and reports.</li>
<li>Edit and proofread proposals, reports, and other materials drafted by team members.</li>
</ul><div>Stewardship &amp; Cultivation Coordination</div><ul>
<li>Coordinate logistics for foundation site visits, including scheduling with Museum colleagues, preparing itineraries, arranging meeting spaces, and greeting visitors.</li>
<li>Maintain foundation invitation lists for exhibition openings, special events, and holiday correspondence.</li>
<li>Support stewardship activities by gathering impact data and program updates from Museum staff for inclusion in reports and funder communications.</li>
<li>Staff periodic Advancement events in evenings or on weekends, as needed.</li>
</ul><div>Data Management &amp; Operational Support</div><ul>
<li>Enter and track all foundation proposals, actions, and projections in Raiser&rsquo;s Edge NXT; maintain accurate and up-to-date records.</li>
<li>Submit quarterly foundation contributions data to Secretary and Development Reports for Museum Board meetings.</li>
<li>Review foundation crediting and recognition requests as needed.</li>

The expected salary range for the Manager, Foundation Relations is $67,000/annual &ndash; $72,000/annual. The AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community. 
 
Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.</div></div>

<div><div>Minimum Qualifications</div>
<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Museum Studies, Non-Profit Management, Science, English, Journalism or another relevant field.</li>
<li>At least 3 years of progressive professional experience in nonprofit development, grant administration, or a closely related field</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience with prospect research and grants administration.</li>
<li>Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.</li>
<li>Proficiency with CRM systems.</li>
</ul>
