JOB SUMMARY:

Phlebotomist I performs daily phlebotomy activities of the Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-office Phlebotomy (IOP) accurately and on time. The person in this position interacts with the client, patients, and other PathGroup personnel in a professional and courteous manner and performs with confidence, both the forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
<ul>
<li>Greets customers appropriately. Treat all customers in a courteous manner.</li>
<li>Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.</li>
<li>Collects specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required. Reduces patient anxiety by providing a calm environment for patients before, during and after the collection process.</li>
<li>Disposes of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, or policies. Disposes of contaminated sharps, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.</li>
<li>Completes requisitions accurately.</li>
<li>Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into computer. Requires attention to detail to maintain high level of accuracy. Communicate with clients to confirm handwritten orders, verify test(s) ordered, obtain accurate billing information, i.e. diagnosis codes, UPIN information, etc.</li>
<li>Researches test/client information utilizing lab computer system.</li>
<li>Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.</li>
<li>Package specimens for transport. Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen. Demonstrates proficiency of proper collection methods and proper processing of all specimens.</li>
<li>Maintains required records and documentation.</li>
<li>Maintains daily records and all appropriate PSC/IOP Phlebotomy logs.</li>
<li>Assist with compilation of monthly statistics and data.</li>
<li>Performs basic clerical duties, i.e. filing, faxing, and preparing mail. The person in this position is required to perform electronic data entry.</li>
<li>Approves time in attendance software by noon on the Monday following the end of the pay period. Submits accurate expense and travel logs Monday for the week prior or as directed by management.</li>
<li>Demonstrates organizational commitment.</li>
<li>Adheres to departmental and company code of grooming and dress code and lab coat policies, appearing neat and clean at all times.</li>
<li>Utilizes time appropriately. Capable of maintaining fluctuating patient flow.</li>
<li>Displays courteous and professional behavior to clients, patients, and co-workers. Communicates with co-workers and clients in a way that promotes a harmonious and cooperative working environment.</li>
<li>Answers the telephone in a friendly and helpful manner, by incorporating the company name, self-identification and a helpful statement.</li>
<li>Performs duties in independent manner.</li>
<li>Communicates pertinent information/issues to supervisor, manager or group leader for resolution.</li>
<li>Contributes to a positive work climate and to the team effort of the department and company.</li>
<li>Ensures facilities are neat, clean and in good repair, takes appropriate action to advise Group Leader or Supervisor of required repairs and maintenance.</li>
<li>Assist with periodic inventory counts, report shortages and problems to group leader or supervisor as they occur.</li>
<li>Utilizes proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to ensure patient and personal safety. Exercises all laboratory safety precautions and adheres to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.</li>
<li>Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.</li>

 </li></ul></div>The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct patient care under nurse supervision, assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, and performing technical tasks within scope of practice to support patient safety and comfort. The PCT is also responsible for actively maintaining patient supervision within the unit (milieu) and responding promptly to call bells.
Essential Functions:
<div><ul><li>Assist patients with activities of daily living including, but not limited to: hygiene, dressing, and mobility
</li></ul><ul><li>Take and record vital signs.
</li></ul><ul><li>Monitor and report changes and patient conditions and document changes accurately.
</li></ul><ul><li>Perform ECGs, phlebotomy, and specimen collection.
</li></ul><ul><li>Assist with mobility and safe patient transfers.
</li></ul><ul><li>Maintain clean and safe patient environment.
</li></ul><ul><li>Answer patient call bells promptly.
</li></ul><ul><li>Remain in the patient care milieu at all times to ensure supervision and safety
</li></ul><ul><li>Collaborate with security and medical staff to ensure the safety and security of patients and personnel.
</li></ul><ul><li>Regular and predictable attendance required.
</li></ul></div>It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Patient Care Technician program. Current BLS certification. ECG/Phlebotomy certification preferred. Valid driver&rsquo;s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements:
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements to include passing an annual background check.

<div>The Lab Technician III will conduct the collection of blood samples from subjects while working closely with our Clinical Research staff to provide excellent customer care to patients and their parents participating in our clinical
trials. 
DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>
Prepares, processes, and ships laboratory samples to outside laboratories following IATA regulations.</li><li>
Conducts venipuncture and phlebotomy on study subjects.</li><li>
Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards.</li><li>
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.</li><li>
Verifies subject by reading subject identification.</li><li>
Maintains specimen integrity by using an aseptic technique, following protocol procedures; observing protocol specific procedures.</li><li>
Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintaining daily tallies of collections performed as applicable.</li><li>
Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.</li><li>
Enhances laboratory department by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.</li><li>
Monitors inventory of laboratory supplies and laboratory kits and order as needed.</li><li>
Organizes laboratory layout and facilitates laboratory operations.</li><li>
Conducts clinical studies according to FDA regulations and guidelines.</li><li>
Protects the safety and welfare of the study subjects by ensuring that the study is conducted properly and in compliance with ICH/GCP and Optimal Research Standing Operating Procedures.</li><li>
Manages equipment and storage conditions of samples and reagents within the laboratory.</li><li>
Manages vendors per DM and protocol procedure with regard to samples, dry-ice, liquid nitrogen (if applicable), and biohazard waste pick-up.</li><li>
Knowledgeable of the Sponsor&rsquo;s protocol so all study activities are completed correctly.</li><li>
Ability to train and mentor new staff, as needed.</li><li>
Demonstration of appropriate and timely follow-up on the action items, at their respective sites.</li><li>
Other tasks and duties as assigned by the supervisor.</li></ul>
KNOWLEDGE &amp; EXPERIENCE
Education:<ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent required</li></ul>
Experience:<ul><li>
4+ years of phlebotomy and lab processing experience.</li></ul>
Credentials:<ul><li>
Phlebotomy certification required</li><li>
Medical Assistant certification preferred</li></ul>
Knowledge and Skills:<ul><li>
Meticulous attention to details and deadlines.</li><li>
Knowledge of basic use of scientific methods, procedures, and techniques</li><li>
Good communication skills are required, both written and verbal</li><li>
Fluent English is a must, Spanish is preferred.</li></ul></div>
