Position Summary
 As a Repair Welder, you will play a critical role in maintaining weld integrity on small to large-diameter pipe ranging from 16” to 120” OD. This position focuses on the inspection, removal, and repair of weld defects on both long-seam and girth-seam welds, primarily using SMAW and FCAW processes.
 
This is a highly specialized role requiring precision, discipline, and a strong understanding of weld discontinuities, repair methods, and code-compliant execution. You will work closely with Quality Control and NDE teams to ensure all repairs meet AWS and ASME standards.
 
This role is ideal for a welder who prioritizes quality over speed and takes pride in delivering right first-time results.
 
This is a night shift role (6 PM – 6 AM) requiring focus, consistency, and attention to detail.
 
Key Responsibilities
 <ul>
<li>Perform repair welding on long-seam and girth-seam welds for small to large-diameter pipe (16”–120” OD) using SMAW (primary), and FCAW as required</li>
<li>Interpret NDE results (RT/X-ray and UT) to accurately identify, locate, and assess weld defects</li>
<li>Remove defects using air arc gouging and precision grinding techniques</li>
<li>Prepare welding areas in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)</li>
<li>Execute weld repairs in multiple positions (1G, 2G, 3G, and as required for pipe configurations)</li>
<li>Maintain proper preheat, inter pass temperatures, and consumable control throughout the repair process</li>
<li>Ensure all repairs meet or exceed AWS structural and ASME pressure vessel code requirements</li>
<li>Perform visual inspections to verify weld quality prior to release to Quality/NDE</li>
<li>Maintain welding equipment in safe, functional condition</li>
<li>Follow all safety protocols while maintaining a clean, organized work environment</li>
</ul>
Qualifications & Skills

<li>Proven experience in industrial or structural welding environments</li>
<li>Hands-on experience with SMAW (primary), plus FCAW</li>

Troubleshoot, repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as passenger loading bridges/gate services in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operational manuals and manufacturer&rsquo;s specifications using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.
</li><li>Observe devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate and diagnose causes of trouble.
</li><li>Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists or other lifting devices, hand tools and power tools.
</li><li>Examine form and tester of parts to detect imperfections. Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.
</li><li>Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments using proper equipment/tools, as needed.
</li><li>Repair or replaces defective parts, as needed.
</li><li>Install special functional and structural parts in devices using hand tools.
</li><li>Start and operate devices to test their performance.
</li><li>Lubricate and clean parts as well as provides manufacturer recommended maintenance to keep equipment running smoothly.
</li><li>Repair electrical systems, including control systems.
</li><li>Weekly and Daily cleaning of customer equipment.</li><li>
Perform preventative, corrective, predictive and emergency maintenance, may require 24-hour availability for emergency response/support.
</li><li>Provide accurate and timely reports of maintenance issues at the site. Maintain records of repairs, time spent, part usage and other information for historical data, as directed by customer using Maintenance Connection and CMMS.
</li><li>Notify management of any abnormalities, which may impair the proper functioning of the equipment before the equipment breaks down.
</li><li>May use cutting, brazing, or welding equipment to repair equipment, as required.
</li><li>Must be regular in attendance at work location during scheduled work hours.
</li><li>Must maintain a safe workplace.
</li><li>Must comply with Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
</li><li>Must comply with all personal protective equipment requirements.
</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.
</li></ul>Maintenance Technician Qualifications:<ul><li>
High School diploma or GED equivalent.</li><li>
Valid Driver License.</li><li>
2+ years&rsquo; experience in equipment maintenance and maintenance operations.</li><li>
Possess mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting.</li><li>
Ability to read and interpret manufacturer instructions regarding repair and maintenance of passenger loading bridges.
</li><li>Understanding of PLC Control systems a plus.</li><li>
Familiarity with Airport operations a plus.</li><li>
Computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Word and Excel.</li><li>
Ability to communicate professionally to customers and fellow employees.</li><li>
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces</li><li>
Willingness to work in various weather conditions</li><li>
Ability to be badged to work in secure areas of an airport.</li><li>
Ability to work Day or Night Shift including weekends and holidays.</li></ul>
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of an Maintenance Technician, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces. Ladder work required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircrafts and the confined areas of baggage conveyor systems. Specific vision abilities required by this job include good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Good hand / eye coordination is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is similar to airport operation with vehicular traffic. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircrafts and around heavy equipment.</div></div></div></div></div>
