Position Summary
<br><br>
As a Cab Crane Operator, you will operate an overhead crane from an elevated cab to move steel plates, pipe, and structural materials throughout the facility.
<br><br>
This role requires strong hand-eye coordination, situational awareness, and a commitment to safety. You will work closely with production, welding, and yard teams to ensure materials are moved efficiently without compromising safety or product quality.
<br><br>
This is a night shift role (6 PM – 6 AM) requiring focus, discipline, and consistent execution.
<br><br>
What You’ll Be Responsible For
<br><ul>
<li>Operate cab-controlled overhead cranes to move steel materials safely and efficiently</li>
<li>Lift, position, and transport loads including plate, pipe, and structural steel</li>
<li>Follow all rigging signals and communication protocols with ground personnel</li>
<li>Inspect crane equipment and rigging before use to ensure safe operation</li>
<li>Maintain precise control to prevent load swing, damage, or safety hazards</li>
<li>Support production flow by staging materials for welding, fitting, and processing</li>
<li>Identify and report equipment issues or unsafe conditions immediately</li>
<li>Maintain clean and organized work areas</li>
<li>Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times</li>

<ul><li>Makes minor repairs to equipment and apparatus, performs routine preventative maintenance tasks, and keeps records of such action.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Perform a daily cleaning in all areas of the station, including but not limited to the kitchen, day room, restrooms, and dormitory.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Conduct a general operational check of apparatus, including unstaffed units at the station, including fuel and water tank levels to ensure operational readiness if the apparatus is needed.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Maintenance of records and checklists:

<ul><li>Hold a minimum of an EMT certification by the TDSHS</li></ul>

<ul><li>The Probationary Period shall consist of four (4) parts. The first six (6) months shall consist of three (3) Phase Testing Periods. The final six (6) months will be used to obtain a Class B TDL and learn the skills necessary to successfully complete the current CFFD Driver Operator Program.</li></ul>
<ul><li>A Phase Testing Period may be extended with approval of the Fire Chief in order to facilitate a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).</li></ul>
<ul><li>Swapping shifts with another scheduled employee may be approved during Probationary Period with Shift Commander&rsquo;s approval prior to projections being complete</li></ul>
</div></div><ul><li><b>Firefighter (Full-Time):</b></li></ul>
