Under direct supervision, performs clinical laboratory procedures that encompass the scope of practice of a clinical laboratory technician, in accordance with Article 165 of the New York State Education Law. All personnel perform related work as required.</p><p>
Under direct supervision of a clinical laboratory technologist, supervisor or director, as appropriate, with limited exercise of independent judgment, performs clinical laboratory procedures and examinations.</p><p><b>
Examples of Typical Tasks</b>:</p><p>
1. Obtains, collects, and accessions specimens and labels with name, date, and source. Stores and preserves specimens and disposes of completed specimens.</p><p>
2. Prepares specimens and performs or assists in the performance of routine tests and analyses, employing standard controls in accordance with stipulated procedures utilizing manual or automated techniques.</p><p>
3. Prepares reagents and media according to prescribed formula. Maintains upkeep of designated laboratory instruments before and after usage.</p><p>
4. Records results and submits reports of diagnostic tests, utilizing safeguards such as delta checks and quality control.</p>
