 Overview
 
 
 
 CBS News is seeking a Senior Producer, Podcasts to oversee editorial production across its 48 Hours podcast slate, including two weekly flagship shows and a portfolio of limited series. This role will lead a team of producers and associate producers, driving editorial excellence, production quality, and operational efficiency across both video and audio formats.
 
 
 The ideal candidate is an experienced editorial leader with a strong production background in news and documentary programming, with an emphasis on legal or true crime storytelling. They are equally comfortable shaping stories and managing teams, with a track record of delivering high-quality content on deadline in fast-paced environments.
 
 
 This position reports to the Vice President of Podcast Editorial and works with the Executive Producer of 48 Hours
 
 
 Key Responsibilities

 Oversee production across the video podcast slate, including two weekly flagship shows and multiple limited series

 Manage, mentor, and provide editorial guidance to Producers and Associate Producers

 Set and uphold editorial standards, tone, and storytelling quality across all podcast content

 Oversee episode development, including concepts, rundowns, guest booking strategy, and scripting

 Ensure seamless execution of studio recordings and production workflows

 Partner with the Video Editors to maintain high standards in post-production, pacing, and visual storytelling

 Review cuts and provide clear, actionable editorial feedback

 Manage production timelines, resources, and deliverables across multiple shows simultaneously

 Hiring Salary Range: $150,000.00 - 180,000.00.
 
 
 The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. NBC News is seeking a seasoned, driven Producer to support newsgathering, storytelling, and live production across all platforms. This role will work closely with a Correspondent and production teams to pitch, develop, report, and execute compelling journalism&mdash;from breaking news to in-depth features, investigative reporting to national coverage.
The ideal candidate is a creative journalist with sharp editorial judgment, strong writing and research skills, and the confidence to thrive under pressure. This producer should be equally at home in the field, on location, or in the control room, and adept at delivering both live and taped segments that meet NBC&rsquo;s highest editorial standards. The ideal candidate is a news junkie who can&rsquo;t wait to get out the door and, on the road, to cover that next story. This producer should also enjoy storytelling for morning television, an evening newscast and everything in between. The ability to shoot and edit is a plus, along with a sense of what does well on social media or in vertical video formats.

Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Partner with Correspondent and show teams to develop, report, and deliver strong, visually compelling stories with clear narratives and well-researched journalism.</li><li>
Pitch, field produce, write, and fact-check stories across NBC News linear and streaming platforms, including daily news, longform pieces, and cross-platform content.</li><li>
Conduct original reporting, deep research, and source interviews.</li><li>
Secure guest bookings in a competitive environment; conduct pre-interviews and prepare talking points.</li><li>
Ability to travel at a moment&rsquo;s notice to cover a story and commit to staying on the road as long as the story takes.</li><li>
Collaborate with control rooms, senior producers, and editorial teams to build rundowns, write intros, and produce live and taped segments.</li><li>
Oversee field operations, including live shots, remote anchor setups, and breaking news coverage.</li><li>
Track and manage correspondent&rsquo;s schedule when working with them closely.</li><li>
Work closely with editors to ensure high-quality video packages, graphics, and sound.</li><li>
Partner with Standards &amp; Legal to ensure all content adheres to editorial and corporate guidelines.</li><li>
Maintain strong communication between the Correspondent, senior leadership, and production teams.</li><li>
Contribute ideas for a wide range of content including news-of-day, lifestyle features, celebrity interviews, and human-interest stories.</li></ul> 

Qualifications 
Basic Requirements:<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in journalism, communications, or related field, or equivalent work experience.</li><li>
Minimum 5 years&rsquo; experience in network news, cable, or talk show production, including live and taped segments.</li><li>
Strong journalistic writing, research, and editorial judgment skills.</li><li>
Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. politics, current events, pop culture, and lifestyle trends.</li><li>
Experience shooting (DSLR or similar) and editing (Avid and/or Adobe Premiere).</li><li>
Strong ability to navigate newsroom tools and technology (Slack, NCX, Latakoo, etc.)</li><li>
Proven ability to work in fast-paced environments under tight deadlines.</li><li>
Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime with short notice.</li><li>
Must be able to travel frequently, domestically and internationally.</li><li>
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.</li><li>
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to collaborate across teams.</li></ul>

Additional Requirements:
Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, based in Houston, TX, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee&rsquo;s residence. This role will report into Miami bureau leadership.
This position is eligible for company-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
