Job Summary
 
Responsible for primary diagnosis and procedural coding for designated ambulatory and hospital outpatient setting. Responsible for proficiently assigning proper and accurate medical codes for diagnosis, procedures, and services performed in an outpatient setting, such as, but not limited to emergency department, outpatient clinics, same day surgeries, or diagnostic testing (radiology and laboratory). Typically reports to the Coding Manager.

 Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associates degree in Health Information Management or any Healthcare Related Field preferred

Principal Accountabilities

<li>Reviews medical record documentation to identify pertinent diagnosis/procedures that require code assignment for outpatient records and accurately code the diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM coding conventions for the purpose of reimbursement, research, and compliance with federal regulations.</li>
<li>Reviews the medical record to assure specificity of diagnoses, procedures, and appropriate reimbursement for hospital and professional charges.</li>
<li>Queries physicians when code assignments are not straightforward or documentation in the record is inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear for coding purposes.</li>
<li>Keeps abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting guidelines and brings identified concerns to manager for resolution.</li>
<li>Effectively assigns ICD-10-CM, modifiers, and HCPCS codes to outpatient records.</li>

Medical Assistant Novice II- Neurosurgery (Katy/West Houston)

<div>At Houston Methodist, the Manager Contracting position is responsible for working cross-functionally within the Supply Chain department and with hospital stakeholders to strategically and objectively source and contract for agreed upon materials, goods, services and equipment in consideration of their total cost of acquisition including financial and other impacts to the hospital. He/she will perform complex financial analyses and research related to supply chain services and make fact-based recommendations to key stakeholders. The position requires a strong ability to communicate and collaborate with various committees, executives, physicians, legal and risk departments, as well as department management and staff. The Manager Contracting is responsible for developing the annual contract work plan in coordination with Value Analysis, and for the content of supply chain contract documents prior to submission to the legal team in coordination with the Contract Administrator. 
 
The manager position responsibilities include managing the daily work activities of the work unit/department staff, ensuring quality, productivity, functional excellence and efficiency while assisting management in accomplishing strategic and operational objectives. In addition, this position provides guidance to staff and is responsible for staffing, budget compliance, contributing to staffing decisions such as hiring and terminating employment, coaching and counseling employees on work related performance, and assisting in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work environment. This position also implements training, monitoring and operations initiatives that secure compliance with ethical and legal business practices and accreditation/regulatory/ government regulations.
