NYU&rsquo;s Stern School of Business has an exciting opportunity available for an Associate Director, Communications at our Center for Sustainable Business (CSB) as it evolves its strategy and strengthens its role as a trusted navigator through rapidly changing times. The Center for Sustainable Business&rsquo;s Associate Director of Communications bridges the gap between leading-edge research, experiential education, and practical impact. The Center aims to unleash the transformative potential of business to solve societal challenges at speed and scale. The Associate Director will develop and lead the execution of communications, content, and public events for CSB. The selected candidate will promote CSB thought leadership and programming on sustainable business to target audiences within and beyond the Stern community through content creation and strategic communications and marketing. They will develop and lead the execution of strategy for public events aligned with CSB&rsquo;s strategic research and thought leadership activities, including an annual conference for a large corporate and investor audience, panel discussions, and workshops. The Associate Director will also oversee the production of internal and external materials and ensure that savvy digital communications efforts provide key audiences with up-to-date and accessible information about CSB programs, tools, and research. Qualifications:

The selected candidate must have a bachelor's degree and at least five years of relevant experience in communications, content creation, social media, public relations, marketing, events, or journalism. Exceptional storytelling ability across formats and channels, and an understanding of how to adapt messages and approaches for different platforms and audiences, are required. Proven ability to create content that performs&mdash;you've built audiences, driven engagement, and can point to content that actually changed behavior or sparked conversation&mdash;is also required. A Master's degree in a related field such as communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, business, public administration, sustainability, or environmental studies is preferred. Seven years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, events, or journalism is preferred.</div>

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $75,000.00 to USD $95,000.00. Position Summary

The Director of Public Relations is responsible for leading and executing all national, regional, and local public relations efforts for Southern Land Company. This role develops SLC&rsquo;s PR strategy, manages media relations across business units, crafts corporate narrative, oversees proactive and reactive communications, and ensures a strong, consistent SLC presence across national, regional, industry, and lifestyle media.

This New York&ndash;based role reports directly to the SVP of Marketing, Branding &amp; Strategy and serves as the primary internal leader for all PR initiatives, including agency management, press strategy, messaging development, and earned media results. The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $180,000, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Public Relations Strategy &amp; Leadership

<li>Execute a comprehensive PR strategy for Southern Land Company across corporate, multifamily, single-family, homebuilding, infrastructure, commercial, mortgage, and any other ancillary divisions.</li>
<li>Translate leadership&rsquo;s strategic priorities into clear, actionable PR plans that drive visibility, elevate reputation, and support business objectives.</li>
<li>Serve as the central point of contact for all PR efforts company wide.</li>
</ul>
Media Relations &amp; Press Management
<ul>
<li>Proactively build and maintain relationships with national, regional, and local press&mdash;business, real estate, architectural/design, lifestyle, luxury, and trade outlets.</li>
<li>Secure consistent earned media across SLC markets, developments, and corporate initiatives.</li>
<li>Lead all incoming media requests and manage reactive communications with professionalism and alignment to corporate messaging.</li>
<li>Pitch development milestones, openings, groundbreakings, leadership profiles, awards, and design stories regularly to drive placement.</li>
<li>Identify and manage podcast interviews and blog opportunities.</li>
</ul>
Corporate Communications

Agency &amp; Partner Oversight

Qualifications

<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree required; advanced degree in communications, journalism, PR, or related field preferred.</li>
<li>10&ndash;15 years of progressive PR and media relations experience, ideally within real estate development, architecture/design, luxury brands, or corporate communications.</li>
<li>Established press relationships across national business, real estate, architecture, lifestyle, and vertical trade outlets.</li>
<li>Proven success leading PR campaigns, crafting compelling narratives, and generating consistent earned media.</li>
<li>Strong writing, editing, and messaging development skills; exceptional attention to detail.</li>
<li>Experience supporting senior executives and managing sensitive communications.</li>
<li>Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with strong organizational and project management skills.</li>
<li>Experience overseeing agencies and managing budgets.</li>
