The U.S. District Court Clerk&rsquo;s Office for the District of Massachusetts is currently accepting applications to fill a full-time position for an Official Court Reporter. The position is based in the District Court in Boston, Massachusetts.Summary:The United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, Boston, has an opening for an Official Court Reporter. Official Court Reporters serve at the pleasure of the Court and must comply with the requirements of the Judicial Conference of the United States, The Court Reporter&rsquo;s Manual published by the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, and policies of the Clerk&rsquo;s Office. Periodic travel to offices throughout the district is required.Representative Duties:The Official Court Reporter records verbatim testimony by Computer Assisted Technology (CAT) for civil and criminal court proceedings and provides Real Time reporting services. At the request of a party or by order of the Court, the Court Reporter provides transcripts within the time frames and cost requirements of the Judicial Conference. Additionally, Court Reporters are responsible for determining that billings and formats comply with Judicial Conference requirements.Court Reporters must adhere to the requirements of the Court&rsquo;s Court Reporter Management Plan of this District and maintain accurate, legible records which are subject to audits. This position involves completing record-keeping forms, documenting the information contained in reports, as well as maintaining and safeguarding records until their disposition according to statutory requirements and Judicial Conference policy.Minimum Qualifications:At least one year of prime stenographic CAT court reporting experience in the freelance field of service or in other courts or a combination is required. Four years of experience is preferred unless the candidate can demonstrate extradentary skills with less years of experience.Qualification by testing for listing on the Registry of Professional Reporters of the National Court Reporters Association or passed an equivalent qualifying examination. TRIAL DIVISION 
The Attorney General&rsquo;s Office is looking for three (3) highly motivated paralegals to join the Trial Division within the Government Bureau. The Trial Division represents and defends the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, its agencies, and employees in a wide variety of civil lawsuits. 
Primary Duties:<ul><li> Provide day-to-day paralegal and administrative support to Assistant Attorneys General and all aspects of their case requirements.</li><li> Assist with fact gathering and conduct legal research to support case development.</li><li> Attend client meetings, depositions (both in and outside the office), court hearings, and trials.</li><li> Draft discovery documents and other pleadings.</li><li> Organize and maintain files, including reviewing documents and exhibits.</li><li> Support attorneys in preparing for hearings, depositions, meetings, and trials.</li><li> Communicate with clients, attorneys, witnesses, court clerk's offices, and members of the public.</li><li> Manage calendars, including the scheduling of critical dates, deadlines, and case-related appointments.</li><li> Completing forms, prepare court documents for filing, and maintain case management system.</li><li> Perform administrative and clerical duties, including processing all presentments, typing, filing, screening mail.</li><li> Perform other duties, as required.</li></ul>

Position Requirements:<ul><li> Prior civil litigation experience, preferred.</li><li> Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li><li> Excellent organizational and time management skills.</li><li> Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.</li><li> Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).</li><li> Working knowledge of Westlaw, preferred.</li><li> Valid Massachusetts driver's license is preferred, as travel may be required to various courts, client, and opposing party locations and law offices.</li></ul>
