Checks files representing digitized items against established quality standards prior to acceptance. Identifies possible issues concerning integrity and authenticity of content. When issues are identified or when files fail to meet standards, documents problems and works with higher-level staff to resolve issues or request rework. Monitors the status of content as it moves through the ingest process. Assists in the implementation of digital projects as assigned by senior staff.</p>

Performs simple arrangement and description work for digital collection materials. Applies written guidelines to assess the correctness of metadata and makes corrections as needed. Identifies duplicate content and inconsistencies. Copies records when needed. Creates new metadata according to documented procedures as needed. Consults with higher-level staff on a regular basis when correcting or altering existing content or metadata.</p>

Applies knowledge of automated tools and services used in the management of digital content. Employs a limited range of software applications in support of the lifecycle management and use of digital collections within the custody of the unit.</p>

This position is located at the District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL), within the Collections Department. The Collections Department is responsible for the development, acquisition, maintenance, and evaluation of library materials in all formats to ensure that DCPL&rsquo;s collections are current, diverse, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the District&rsquo;s communities. The department supports equitable access to information and resources by curating collections that reflect the cultural richness and varied interests of DC residents. The Deputy Director of Collections provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the full lifecycle of the library&rsquo;s collections, including selection, acquisitions, vendor relations, and data analysis. The incumbent reports to the Director of Collections and serves as a key advisor on collection strategy, ensuring that materials are responsive to community needs, fiscally responsible, and aligned with system-wide equity goals.</p><p>
The Deputy Director oversees the full lifecycle of library collections, including selection, acquisitions, and processing across all formats and languages. This includes managing vendor contracts, data tools, and staff responsible for purchasing and processing materials. The incumbent also supervises managers within the Collections Department, providing guidance, monitoring workflow and scheduling, approving leave, and conducting performance evaluations. The role supports system-wide collection development and ensures alignment with DCPL&rsquo;s equity and access goals.</p><p>
The work directly impacts the quality, relevance, and accessibility of materials available to the public. It supports the library&rsquo;s mission to provide inclusive, community-responsive collections and contributes to the overall success of public service delivery across all branches.</p><p>

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><ul><li>
Oversees the work of grades 7-12, exercising full supervisory authority over Selectors, Acquisitions, and Processing/Receiving staff that includes hiring, training, performance evaluation, workflow management, and professional development.</li><li>
Leads cross-functional teams and project-based workgroups.</li><li>
Manages vendor relationships, contracts, and performance, including oversight of standing orders and approval plans.</li><li>

Master&rsquo;s degree in Information Library Science (MLIS) from an accredited college and/or university</li><li>

Work in our 24/7/365 operations centers to ensure proper delivery and support of all Talk, Music and News programming.</li><li>
Demonstrate the ability to work independently and triage issues with minimal oversight.</li><li>
Assist in the development of operations documentation ensuring all processes and procedures are detailed to integrate any new systems, components, or broadcast requirements.</li><li>
Manage and properly escalate issues to BCC Managers.</li><li>
Interface with other departments such as Programming, BCC, Media Engineering, UCC.</li><li>
Live Studio support.</li><li>
Utilize checklists and workflows the BOC technicians are responsible for utilizing.</li><li>
Work with management to ensure consistent processes, procedures and protocols are applied across all locations to facilitate a common operating environment for all staff members. Oversee process adherence for groups involved with premiere live events.</li></ul></div><p></p><p><b>
What you&rsquo;ll need:</b></p><ul><li>
0-2 years&rsquo; experience in operations or master control supervision at a major market Operations Center facility or broadcast network.</li><li>
Experience in technical operation and an ability to interface with non-technical operators.</li><li>
Equivalent combination of education and experience preferred</li><li>
Ability to execute Disaster Recovery (Business Continuity) Sequence of events in relation to BOC responsibilities.</li><li>
Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>
Strong organizational skills and attention to details.</li><li>
Positive attitude and strong work ethic.</li><li>
Ability to make quick informed decisions during times of uncertainty or last minute requests.</li><li>
Familiarity with broadcast automation systems.</li><li>
Knowledge of audio production systems and digital audio storage.</li><li>
Thorough understanding of digital audio routing systems.</li><li>
Technical knowledge of satellite, ISDN, IP CODEC, TS over IP and other transmission technologies.</li><li>
Familiarity with Google Office suite (Docs, Sheets, Sites, Forms, Calendar, Drive &amp; Slides).</li><li>
Working knowledge of Lucid, Visio, CAD or other signal flow software is a plus.</li><li>

We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $74,500 to $97,900 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
