Position Summary

Columbia University Medical Center is seeking a detail-oriented finance professional to join its Facilities Management Finance Team. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, this role supports a broad and complex departmental budget portfolio spanning multiple distinct business lines.

A major component of this position is the tracking, reconciliation, and analysis of departmental expenses, recoveries and revenues to ensure proper management reporting and audit support can take place.

The role requires interaction with external consultants and internal partners across multiple departments who rely on accurate and timely financial information.

Accuracy, responsiveness, and strong attention to detail are critical to success in this role, along with the ability to quickly develop an understanding of departmental budget structure, cost drivers, internal reporting systems (Power BI and the related datasets that feed into it) and an understanding of the context in which reporting information will be used.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will assist with processing budget transactions in Columbia&rsquo;s financial systems; compiling, maintaining, and validating financial and utility-related reports and reconciliations; maintaining back-up schedules such as off campus space rentals, Risk Management Insurance Claims and NYP Utility billing; processing payments to vendors as needed in a timely and accurate manner; and reviewing, correcting, and documenting financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with established deadlines. Assist in the preparation of periodic accrual schedules as part of the financial close.

Responsibilities include preparing reports and reconciliations on both a recurring and ad hoc basis, including daily, weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews.  Summary Description
 
 
 
 This position supports the Manager of WHS Controlling inmonitoring sales trends, (daily, weekly and monthly), and preparing thebudget/forecast. This individual will plan and execute budget proceduresincluding monthly monitoring of expenditures and revenues and communicate thestatus to the WHS Sr Controller.

 Essential Job Responsibilities

 Monitor sales and margin trend per client (weekly andmonthly); provide explanations on the fluctuations collect and analyzeinformation that affects individual store sales trends, identify potentialproblems and alerts
 </li>
 <li>
 Produce reporting to the parent company comparing actualperformance with prior year, budget, forecast and 3 Year Plan
 </li>
 <li>
 Support the compilation and preparation of various executivepresentations including but not limited to: Market Visit and Business Reviews
 </li>
 <li>
 Prepare P&amp;L variance analysis versus prioryear/budget/last forecast/3 Year Plan, including explanations of the variancesand propose action plan
 </li>
 <li>
 Input data regarding actual/forecast/budget in Lacosteinformation systems and ensure data accuracy between all systems
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Requirements/Qualifications
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 BS in Finance or Economics
 </li>
 <li>
 2-3 years of experience in similar position
 </li>
 <li>
 Prior experience in a retail / Wholesale environment
 </li>
 <li>
 Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, ability to work with pivot tables and V-lookups
 </li>
 <li>
 Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience with SAP, Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System, Hyperion, and Business Objects, a plus
 </li>
 <li>
 Passion for sales controlling and analysis.
