<p><b>Position Overview</b></p>
<p>The Data Analyst Intern will support initiatives that strengthen the Plan&rsquo;s clinical quality and its ability to deliver timely, accurate insights to internal teams. This work supports HEDIS, the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set, which is the national framework used to assess how effectively health plans provide preventive care, chronic condition management, and other essential services.</p>
<p>During the internship, the student will contribute to improving how quality data is accessed and used across the department, which may include designing components of a self‑service analytics resource, developing tools that streamline data request workflows, or helping create more efficient ways to track and monitor information needs. The intern will gain hands‑on experience with healthcare analytics, data preparation, visualization, and user‑focused solution design.</p>
<p>This role offers meaningful exposure to how data infrastructure supports quality programs, informs member outcomes, enhances operational performance, and builds a foundation for a career in healthcare analytics, quality, or data science.</p>
<p><b>Duties &amp; Responsibilities</b></p>
<ul><li>Support efforts to improve how internal teams access, request, and use quality data.</li>
<li>Assist in designing components of a self‑service analytics resource or tools that streamline data request workflows.</li>
<li>Help develop or enhance processes for logging, tracking, and monitoring data requests.</li>
<li>Support data collection, cleaning, validation, and transformation activities.</li>
<li>Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand reporting needs and translate them into process features.</li>
<li>Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends and potential quality improvement opportunities.</li>
<li>Document requirements, workflows, and data definitions used in the processes.</li>
<li>Prepare basic visualizations and summaries to support ongoing Quality initiatives.</li>
<li>Participate in team meetings, presenting findings where appropriate.</li>

<h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Minimum Qualifications</b></h2>
<ul><li>Currently enrolled in a Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or similar program.</li>
<li>Basic understanding of SQL, R, or Python, or a similar analytic language.</li>
<li>Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Shiny, or similar).</li>
<li>Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail.</li>
<li>Ability to work with structured and unstructured data.</li>
<li>Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into user‑friendly language.</li>
