<div>The Preparedness Section leads the cycle of planning, organizing, equipping, training, exercising, and evaluating Public Health&rsquo;s readiness for emergency responses. The Preparedness Section uses response plans and detailed procedures to help it equitably and efficiently deliver response services during an emergency. The Preparedness Section has led the department&rsquo;s response to the health and medical impacts of over 70 emergencies.</div><div>
Public health emergency preparedness combines the deeply values-driven work of the public health field with the dynamic intensity of the emergency management field. The Preparedness Section supports the community in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from emergencies using a community-based approach and centering equity in process and outcomes. The fifteen staff of the Preparedness Section are driven to deliver our best everyday knowing that in an emergency the health and well-being of the community depends on the effectiveness of the systems, plans, and procedures we establish and maintain.
The Project/Program Manager I (Emergency Preparedness Coordinator) maintains emergency-related IT systems, equipment, checklists and templates, and supports the operations of a physical or virtual emergency operations center during emergencies. They train staff in emergency systems and procedures and help them build response skills. Your work will bring you into contact with groups like King County IT, Public Health Duty Officers, and Public Health radio operators. You will participate in Public Health emergency responses as a member of the Logistics Section. This position is supervised by the Emergency Operations Manager</div> 
Temporary opportunity. Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) positions are &quot;at-will&quot; positions but are eligible for benefits. This TLT is currently anticipated to last 12 months. However, funding sources for this work remain uncertain and dependent upon decisions actively being made at both the federal and local levels. As a result, the end date of this position may be adjusted based on those decisions. The County and the Department continue to work to secure long term funding sources.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday; Employees may choose from a limited number of work schedules each of which include working during the Preparedness Section's core business hours of 9:00am to 4:00pm 
Remote and Onsite Work
The Preparedness team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is Chinook Building - 401 5th Ave. Seattle, WA 98104. 
Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. 
King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.</div> 

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Job Duties</h2></div>
<div><ul><li>Maintain readiness of Public Health&rsquo;s physical and virtual emergency operations centers through regular testing and maintenance of systems and equipment. When an emergency occurs, rapidly setup the physical or virtual emergency operations center, customizing features to the current incident. Ensure the emergency operations center functions well throughout the response.</li><li>
 Maintain content and attachments like checklists and templates for the Public Health Response Guide which describes Public Health&rsquo;s systems for managing emergencies. Improve procedures and materials based on lessons learned from recent emergency responses.</li><li>
Manage Public Health&rsquo;s 24/7 Duty Officer program. Regularly update call triage procedures, coordinate shift coverage, and transfer the 24/7 line to the incoming Duty Officer each Tuesday.</li><li>
Provide training and technical support for Public Health staff on emergency response systems, equipment and procedures.</li><li>
Gather and analyze data to support emergency response capabilities</li><li>
Manage redundant communication systems like the Public Safety Emergency Radio Network program, emergency response position inboxes, Government Emergency Telecommunications System, Wireless Priority System, and a database of emergency contacts.</li><li>
Serve as site administrator for IT systems which support emergency response operations, such as WASecures (Washington State Health Alert Network), WebEOC (Juvare incident management platform), and WATrac (hospital resource tracking system). The emergency operations coordinator will be trained on these systems. You do not need to know how to use them before starting the job.</li><li>
 Maintain Preparedness Section IT assets like a Duty Officer SharePoint site, Public Health Radio Operator SharePoint site, Preparedness Section Calendar, and Key Contacts Database.</li><li>
Serve in the Logistics Section when Public Health responds to emergencies.</li><li>
Support other activities of the Preparedness program&rsquo;s Operations &amp; Systems team as assigned.</li></ul></div>

Reporting to the Director of Information Security Engineering &amp; Operations, you will scope and run scanning across cloud and on-premises assets, validate and triage findings, separate noise from materially risky exposure, and translate results into clear, owner-assigned remediation that actually gets fixed. You will partner closely with Fred Hutch architecture, development, systems engineering, and network engineering teams to embed vulnerability checks into their workflows, build automation that scales the program, and raise our level of compliance with information security standards. Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Own the vulnerability management lifecycle end to end&mdash;asset scoping, scanning, validation, triage, and remediation tracking&mdash;across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.</li><li>
Lead risk-based, exploitability-in-context prioritization that separates noise from materially risky exposure, combining CVSS with EPSS, CISA KEV, and vendor advisories along with asset and reachability context, rather than ranking by raw score alone.</li><li>
Interpret scan results at scale: filter false positives, correlate findings with exploitability and active threat intelligence, and translate them into clear, prioritized tickets with named owners and actionable remediation guidance.</li><li>
Build, tune, and maintain the exposure management toolchain&mdash;evaluating and integrating vulnerability scanners, attack-surface and asset-graph tooling, and exposure management platforms for operational fit.</li><li>
Design and run remediation orchestration: set patch SLAs by risk tier, drive remediation campaigns (for example, end-of-life asset cleanup and TLS/certificate uplift), and keep multiple remediation streams moving across the teams that own the fix.</li><li>
Develop and maintain automation and scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash) to de-duplicate findings, enrich them with CMDB and asset data, and push outputs into ticketing and notification systems instead of working from static reports.</li><li>
Integrate vulnerability operations into operational workflows through APIs for scanners, CMDB, and ITSM platforms, and partner with DevOps and engineering teams to embed vulnerability and infrastructure-as-code checks into CI/CD pipelines.</li><li>
Maintain a runtime-validated, identity-aware view of the asset estate, working toward reachability analysis that can answer which assets an identity can reach and which identities can reach a given asset.</li><li>
Operationalize software supply chain visibility&mdash;keeping SBOMs queryable and current so exposure to a newly disclosed component vulnerability can be answered in minutes rather than days.</li><li>
Define and maintain repeatable exception, risk-acceptance, and revalidation processes, ensuring accepted risk is documented, time-bound, and periodically re-reviewed.</li><li>
Build and report program metrics that turn raw findings into managed exposure&mdash;mean time to remediate, percentage of criticals closed within SLA, exploitability-weighted backlog, and exposure by business unit&mdash;including executive- and board-ready summaries that emphasize trend over point-in-time numbers.</li><li>
Apply AI-assisted tooling where it adds leverage&mdash;for example, to accelerate triage, enrichment, exploit reasoning, and code or configuration review&mdash;while maintaining human validation and sound judgment over automated findings.</li><li>
Serve as the subject matter expert for the vulnerability operations domain, providing technical guidance and mentorship to Level I and Level II engineers.</li><li>
Align vulnerability operations with threat intelligence and active incidents, prioritizing exposures under active exploitation and supporting incident response when a vulnerability is implicated.</li><li>
Contribute to compliance audits and assessments (HIPAA, NIST, CIS), ensuring vulnerability management controls meet regulatory and institutional requirements, and participate in on-call rotation as an escalation point for high-priority exposures.</li></ul>
Qualifications:

The AWS Data Center Engineering - BIM &amp; AI Technologies team is pioneering the next generation of AI-powered design automation for AWS's global data center infrastructure. We're seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer with Building Information Modeling (BIM) domain expertise to architect and deliver innovative solutions that transform how data center design documentation is created, updated, and reviewed at scale. 
 
As an SDE III on this team, you'll lead the design and implementation of novel generative AI applications that serve architects, engineers, construction managers, and facility operators. Working alongside software engineers, applied scientists, UX designers, product managers, and industry domain experts, you'll architect scalable production-ready systems that integrate BIM platforms, desktop applications, cloud services, and AI technologies to accelerate facility design workflows. This is an opportunity to leverage your Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Ownership (AECO) industry expertise alongside your advanced software engineering skills to productionize ML models, mentor junior engineers, and solve complex design automation challenges for the building engineering and construction industry at an unprecedented scale.
 
 
This role requires both deep technical leadership and the ability to bridge software engineering with domain expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Ownership) industry.
