Transfers specimen collected from hospital to collaborator labs using standard and study-specific procedures including processing of blood and other patient specimens in either BL2 or BL2+ lab space. Blood processing responsibilities will include various protocols for separating PBMCs, plasma, DNA and serum.</p><p></p><p>
Collects and/or centrifuges and/or separates and aliquots specimens according to established procedures. Makes sure that specimens are handled in the order of established priority.</p><p></p><p>
Responsible for transcribing all protocols and preparing all required paperwork for both 9A and 9B research units.</p><p></p><p>
Responsible for uploading patient&rsquo;s samples information into database systems.</p><p></p><p>
Labels specimen collection and storage containers. Completes all documentation required for individual specimens according to research protocol requirements and within the guidelines and policies of the CCI Laboratories.</p><p></p><p>

Maintains same laboratory instrumentation to performance standards. Responsible for helping to maintain an adequate inventory of supplies used by the SPL Lab. This includes but is not restricted to ordering supplies as needed; maintaining proper storage of reagents and supplies, and maintaining all appropriate records.</p><p></p><p>
Responsible for assisting with the orientation and training of new personnel in the specimen processing laboratory procedures and policies as required for the individual&rsquo;s level of interaction with the SPL.</p><p></p><p>

<p></p><div><div>The Bing Center for Waldenstrom&rsquo;s Macroglobulinemia (BCWM) is situated in the Longwood area of Boston and is part of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The BCWM is composed of a multi-disciplinary team of physicians, scientists, and computational biologists who are dedicated to the rationale based, genomically guided drug development for Waldenstrom&rsquo;s Macroglobulinemia, a subtype of non-Hodgkin&rsquo;s lymphoma. The BCWM laboratory utilizes multi-omics to provide insights for medicinal chemistry efforts aimed at targeting pro-survival pathways related to MYD88 and CXCR4 mutation signaling, which constitute the most common mutations found in Waldenstrom&rsquo;s Macroglobulinemia. The BCWM has successfully developed therapeutics currently approved and in use for the treatment of Waldenstrom&rsquo;s Macroglobulinemia. In collaboration with medicinal chemists in our center, and at Dana Farber, we continue to develop compounds targeting key mutation signaling pathways. The Hollenhorst Lab applies innovative biochemical strategies to study clinically relevant questions regarding the proteins that regulate bleeding and clotting. The goal is to further our understanding of the basic biology of hemostasis and thrombosis with an eye towards questions directly relevant to the care of patients.

The selected candidate will perform western blots, immunoprecipitation, protein purification, and prepare samples for mass spectrometry analysis. The individual will work with a high degree of independence, organize notebooks and manage data, and perform other laboratory experiments relevant for understanding platelets and coagulation factors.

The laboratory works closely with the National Center for Functional Glycomics at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and is affiliated with the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center and the Harvard Chemical Biology PhD Program. Principal Duties and Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Perform routine and non-routine experiments, which are moderate to complex, with increasing independence. These include western blot, immunoprecipitation, protein purification by liquid chromatography, flow cytometry, and preparation of samples for mass spectrometry analysis.
