We are looking for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Inpatient Transplant Surgery team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute is one of the largest liver transplant centers in the nation, with more than 100 transplants a year. We transplant patients faster than any other center in the region.

Position Summary</div><div> 
The Inpatient Transplant Nephrology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides comprehensive medical management for kidney and pancreas transplant recipients in the inpatient setting. The APP collaborates with transplant nephrologists, transplant surgery APPs, transplant surgeons, pharmacists, coordinators, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care across the peri-transplant continuum including pre-transplant evaluation, immediate post-transplant management, and long-term transplant complications requiring hospitalization.</div><div> 
The APP is responsible for daily clinical management of transplant recipients including immunosuppression management, allograft function monitoring, management of transplant-related complications, and coordination of discharge planning.</div><div>

About the Role:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is credential by the medical staff and functions within their scope of practice in their jurisdictional area and in accordance with organizational medical staff bylaws. They are responsible for providing evidenced-based care for the management of patients, including assessment, implementation and evaluation of a detailed plan of care, which incorporates diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. The APP demonstrates competency in providing age-appropriate care to patients as defined by certification and training and provides family centered care to meet family needs, including psychological support, education and discharge planning in conjunction with other related disciplines.
 
 
The APP initiates, participates and collaborates with divisional and organizational multi-disciplinary staff to provide and support evidence-based education, quality improvement and research. They participate in professional and organizational activities that contribute to improving patient care, the scientific knowledge base of advanced practice, program operation, and individual professional development. The APP provides leadership within their respective clinical area through participation in division projects and mentorship of others.
